The government of Pará, through the State Secretariat for Social Assistance, Labor, Employment, and Income (Seaster), delivered 620 certificates related to the 'Feeding Opportunities' project on Wednesday (24) and Thursday (25). The certification took place in the auditorium of the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (Dnit), located in the Castanheira neighborhood of Belém, concluding the courses conducted from June to September of this year.

The 'Feeding Opportunities' project is an initiative of the government of Pará, through Seaster, in partnership with Solar Coca-Cola, aimed at combating food insecurity, as well as enabling training for job and income generation for people in vulnerable situations.

The qualification is supported by nutritionists, food engineers, and food safety engineers, who promote good practices in food handling during the courses. The action is initially planned and executed by technicians from the Food and Nutritional Security Directorate (Disan) of Seaster.

Good practices for food handling; entrepreneurship; pricing formation; basic digital marketing; practical regional homemade cake recipe; and practical recipe with regional chocolate bonbon were some of the activities conveyed to students during the course.

"We gathered all these groups to certify them. This certificate is so important and can guarantee so many other horizons. So, I am very happy because each project is a product that is generating income, which provides opportunities for families to step out of their ostracism," emphasized Nazaré Costa, director of Disan.

In addition to practical workshops, the food handling course is also a differentiator that ensures participants a recognized certificate, an important proof for those who wish to start a business or work in the food sector.

“I found it very good and very important for the work I am currently developing because I gained a very good learning experience for my life and for work as well,” said Rosilena Chermont.

More training

So far, about 360 school lunch workers from the state education network have already received training through the project, which also aims to expand the number of qualifications in the coming months. The program remains active with plans for new classes until December 2025, involving lunch workers from the municipal education network as well.

“The State, through Seaster, with the execution of the 'Feeding Opportunities' project, reaffirms its commitment to ensuring public policies that promote more dignity, job and income generation, in addition to involving direct qualification for workers in the food sector,” said Inocêncio Gasparim, head of Seaster.
