Institute of Social Security Management and Protection promotes Social Security Education
Action integrates activities of Igepps that assist civil servants in the transition to retirement

Based on the principle that retirement is not the end of productive life, but a fundamental step towards a new phase that can be enjoyed in a healthy, meaningful way with greater autonomy, the Institute of Social Security Management and Protection (Igepps) invests in social security education actions aimed at preparing state civil servants for post-career transition.
The idea of conducting a preparatory course arose from the need identified by the team of the Psychosocial Care Center (Naps), based on services provided to retired civil servants, who reported a lack of preparation for this significant moment in life.

"From a psychosocial perspective, it is important to highlight that the course has achieved its purpose. By opening space for reflections on identity, social bonds, health, financial planning, and new life projects, it helps to reduce insecurities, broaden perspectives, and favor a more positive adaptation to the post-career period,” explained psychologist Luzia Poça, social security technician at Igepps and member of Naps, the sector responsible for executing the course.
Civil servants from the Gaspar Vianna Clinical Hospital in Belém participated in the training that addressed topics such as financial education and routine planning. Nursing technician Marlucia Souza found "the preparation essential to have a direction when the time comes to end the work journey."

“On that occasion, work continued with Module 2, which shows that the proposal does not end in a single meeting, but seeks to accompany and support civil servants throughout the process,” reinforced Luzia Poça.
The goal is to introduce and discuss relevant topics so that civil servants can equip themselves and make a smoother and more satisfying transition to retirement. Many claim to feel more prepared and confident after participating in the course.

"In retirement, financial resources will decrease, it is inevitable. However, many times civil servants do not know how to deal with the new reality. Therefore, the importance of preparing for this moment of changes in various aspects," advised Marcella Takeshita, social security technician at Igepps and one of the speakers in the course.
The activity has been taking place since 2020 and, over the years, has reached civil servants from different agencies of the state public administration.
"We must take care of civil servants, providing support and knowledge. This preparation for a stage of life is very important,” stated Rute Nicodemos, social worker at the Clinical Hospital.

The course is included in the Pro-Management Certification Program of the Ministry of Social Security, which recognizes preparation for retirement as a fundamental element to ensure quality of life at this stage of life.
Igepps already has level II certification and is advancing in the pursuit of level IV, to rank among the four most efficient Social Security Regimes in the country.
“The initiative to offer the course to civil servants approaching inactivity reaffirms the importance that Igepps gives to the topic of retirement, as an opportunity to prepare for experiencing new experiences and achievements. This is the state public policy of valuing the civil service,” highlights Washington Albuquerque, president of the Institute.
