ParáPaz Foundation certifies students of the ‘COP30 Express’ course, aimed at professional training inspired by the climate conference
COP30 is a reference for intensive workforce training in areas such as customer service, tourism, and sustainability

On the afternoon of last Wednesday (2), the Professional and Social Unit of the ParáPaz Foundation, in Belém, certified 36 students of the ‘COP30 Express’ course, an initiative aimed at professional qualification, environmental awareness, and encouragement of entrepreneurship. Inspired by the COP30 event, which will take place in November in the capital of Pará, the course aims to prepare citizens to take advantage of the opportunities that the event may generate in the State.
The ‘COP30 Express’ is a compact and intensive version of the ‘Strategies for COP30’ course, held in May, which trained 45 participants. Given the success of the first edition, the Foundation decided to expand access to the content with a new class, maintaining the main thematic axes in a more dynamic format, with a workload of 40 hours. The methodology combined theoretical classes with practical activities.
According to Professor Leonardo Gurjão, the compact edition maintained the quality of the content. “We worked on the main axes related to the COP, with notions of management, business, hospitality, tourism, and logistics. We also had classes on customer service and public speaking, which are essential for those who will deal with visitors from other countries and States. We concluded with topics such as the environment and sustainable development, and in the final practical session, the students led two actions: an entrepreneurship fair and a sustainable recycling workshop,” he explained.

Among the certified students, Silvia Martins, 43, highlighted the connection between the content and her experience in the tourism sector. Currently unemployed, she maintains a partnership with a local agency. “I was able to share a bit of my experience with the class and, at the same time, learn a lot. The topics covered were extremely relevant for those who intend to work during COP30. I definitely leave more prepared, with new ideas and, above all, more motivated,” she said.
Keila Gonçalves, 50, also celebrated the opportunity. “It was important to know that I can still learn, enrich my resume, and feel part of something. The teachers were more than masters; they were friends. The ParáPaz Foundation deserves congratulations for offering this type of course. I hope many more come.”
The certification ceremony was attended by professors Douglas Sarges and Leonardo Gurjão, as well as the coordinator of the Unit, Beatriz Lopes.
