Government of Pará delivers housing benefit to families who lost homes in fire in Belém
The delivery, about 48 hours after the incident, confirms the agility of Cohab in ensuring that families begin to rebuild their homes and their lives

“We were all very shaken, but being here today receiving this check is a comforting part now in this moment of pain, of loss, it is a little bit of hope for us to rebuild our house again,” said the emotional housewife Vanessa Pereira Araújo, who is in her eighth month of pregnancy and reports that her house was completely destroyed by the fire.
The delivery of the housing benefit Sua Casa was made by the Government of Pará, through the Housing Company of Pará (Cohab), this Friday, (6), about 48 hours after the fire that affected seven houses in Santa Lúcia passage, in the Cremação neighborhood, in Belém, last Wednesday (3).
For the president of Cohab, Manoel Pioneiro, agility has been a key factor in ensuring immediate assistance to families affected by incidents and natural disasters, "because it is essential that the State Government is present when there is an incident or natural disasters, because people, in addition to material losses, are psychologically shaken and, when you arrive bringing comfort, bringing hope, it changes and makes the person within themselves have hope,” emphasized Manoel Pioneiro.

The Sua Casa housing benefit consists of the donation of financial resources, through a check, accepted in construction material stores. The aid allows the purchase of materials for the construction of houses. There is also a check to assist with the labor of the mason. The housing benefit can reach up to R$ 21,000.
The housewife Maria Jucileide Nascimento also lost everything she had in the fire. “It is very gratifying, after we have a total loss, being left with nothing and being here receiving this check, my house was made of masonry and wood, and now with this check I will rebuild my entire house in masonry, which is safer, I am just grateful to the Government for this support,” said the housewife.
"Sua Casa" - The "Sua Casa" program of the State Government assists families in social vulnerability in the construction and reconstruction of properties. The program prioritizes people living in social risk situations, such as extreme poverty, victims of fires and natural disasters such as floods, among other technical criteria established by law and verified by Cohab.
To receive the benefits, candidates must meet the criteria - established by law - to be registered in the program. After registration, Cohab gradually selects the registered individuals based on the order of priorities set forth in the program's guidelines.
As candidates are selected, the engineering team of the Company begins the evaluation and diagnosis process of the homes. Next, the following phase consists of the socioeconomic analysis by the social assistance sector of the Company, at which point the technicians will verify the actual social condition of the candidates.
