Hemopa promotes walk in Utinga Park to celebrate Blood Donor Month
The activity aimed to raise awareness among the population about the importance of blood donation to save lives, thus increasing the number of loyal donors.
The Pará Center for Hemotherapy and Hematology Foundation (Hemopa) held a walk on the morning of this Sunday (30) at the Camillo Vianna State Park in Belém, in honor of Blood Donor Month. The action was part of the November program, dedicated to honoring volunteers and reinforcing this year's campaign theme: “Save lives today, save lives always.”
The event brought together regular donors, new volunteers, institution staff, social groups, and park visitors, who participated in the route aimed at promoting health and raising awareness about the importance of blood donation. Hemopa teams also guided the public on donation criteria, intervals between collections, and scheduling methods.
Representing the president of the Hemopa Foundation, Paulo Bezerra, the Administrative and Financial Director, Taísa Vieira Amador, highlighted the impact of the mobilization. “It is an honor to be here at such an important event for promoting blood donation. I was very happy with the number of people we managed to gather today. People who were willing to wake up early to participate in this awareness. With such a simple and meaningful act, we can save so many lives,” said the manager. According to her, the initiative already shows concrete results. “Whenever we hold the walk, we notice a very positive reflection in the increase of donations,” she added.
Health and entertainment - The donor recruitment manager at Hemopa, Juciara Farias, emphasized that the walk concludes the cycle of tributes to voluntary donors. “The ninth walk combined health, joy, and entertainment, which are deserved achievements by our donors, whether they are first-time or repeat donors. It was a wonderful morning, strengthened by the volunteering of those who spent the whole year donating, and today came to celebrate this gesture,” she said, also highlighting the invitation to new volunteers. “The walk has this social appeal. Everyone who was here today walked for life, and they are invited to have this very important attitude. Blood donation saves so many lives,” she reinforced.
Registered participant in the program, administrator Rubens Júnior, 30 years old, said he sought to unite health and solidarity. “My biggest motivation is to take care of my health, move my body, improve circulation. Donating blood is a joy because it is an act of love for others. We feel useful and happy,” he stated, warning those who still have fears: “For those who are afraid, it is important to go there, take the test, and overcome that fear. It doesn’t hurt. It is a great satisfaction to overcome this barrier and help those in need.”
At the end of the walk, participants competed for prizes offered by the Hemopa Foundation, including bicycles, household utensils, thermal bottles, bicycle helmets, and eco-bags, as a way to encourage participation and thank the public for their engagement in the action.
Throughout November, the Hemopa Foundation promoted mobilization in its own units and external collections, with institutional partnerships, educational activities, and strategies to increase the number of loyal volunteers.
