The Institute of Pension Management and Social Protection (Igepps) launched a project dedicated to guidance and dialogue with military police and firefighters on fundamental topics related to their careers and lives when the time comes to leave active service.

It is the Military Talk, an initiative developed by the Social Protection Directorate, which brought together members of the Military Police and the Fire Department on the morning of this Monday, the 6th, at the headquarters of the Institute, in the Nazaré neighborhood of Belém.

Experts from Igepps addressed the two main axes of the Military Social Protection System, which are the specific pension legislation for the category and the psychosocial preparation for the period after the end of active service.

The technicians detailed the main guidelines and legal updates governing the System, reinforcing the importance of knowledge about rights, duties, and benefits guaranteed by this specific regime.

"The topics discussed were very interesting, especially because I work at the Veterans and Pensioners Center, regarding pensions, reserves, retirement; this was very beneficial," said Military Police Sergeant Rosa Silva.

The head of the Social Protection Directorate of Igepps, Colonel Carlos Dória, explains that in daily service, it is evident that there are many doubts among military personnel regarding documentation, rights, duties, and especially concerning the legislation, which has been updated.

“That is why it is important to provide knowledge and awareness about the importance of planning for the future, from the beginning of the career, to be ready when the moment of inactivity arrives,” Dória stated.

Another highlight was the discussion about the emotional, social, and family challenges faced during the transition to retirement or reserve. Participants were invited to reflect on mental health, professional identity, new life projects, and strategies for a smoother adaptation to the new cycle.

"The project is a success, and we will ensure that the troops are more aware of their rights to avoid problems at the time of transition to inactivity. May it be a smooth transfer,” explained Fire Department Colonel Paulo Costa.

This initiative is part of Igepps' guidelines aimed at approaching the insured and strengthening the social protection network for military personnel, reaffirming the commitment to efficient, transparent pension management focused on the well-being of those who dedicated their lives to public service.

“The Military Talk project emerges as a space for active listening, welcoming, and valuing public security professionals, promoting a more humane and preventive approach throughout the entire trajectory of military personnel and not just at the moment of transition to inactivity,” said Igepps President Washington Albuquerque.
