Innovation: Semas project awarded at event on the present and future of the Amazon
Recognition reinforces Semas' commitment to uniting science and valuing public servants in building environmental solutions

The State Secretariat for the Environment, Climate and Sustainability (Semas) was recognized with the "Selo Cesupa Sustentável" at the event "Dialogues Amazon and Climate: present scenarios and future paths" in Belém. Among 75 submitted works, only 14 were awarded — including the "Web Platform for Environmental Education," developed by Semas public servant, Daniela da Silva. The recognition reinforces Semas' commitment to uniting innovation, science, and valuing public servants in building environmental solutions for the Amazon.
The event, promoted by the University Center of the State of Pará (Cesupa), brought together specialists and institutions to discuss the future of the Amazon in a multidisciplinary way. In addition to the debates, the program included the awarding of innovative projects with the Selo Cesupa Sustentável, a certification that recognizes academic practices aligned with sustainability, social and environmental responsibility, and the generation of impactful practical solutions.
Public servant Daniela da Silva, assigned to the Legislative Studies Center (NEL) of Semas and a master's student at Cesupa, developed the awarded project under the guidance of professors Marcelo Limont and Isaac Elgraby. The proposal foresees an interactive panel to systematize and disseminate good environmental practices in the municipalities of Pará, to be made available by the secretariat.

For Daniela, the achievement represents the result of Semas' investment in valuing its public servants. "It represents a very important moment for my personal, academic, and professional life. As a public servant for 15 years, this award is a historic milestone for Semas, considering all the investment made in favor of valuing the public servant, through the master's scholarship that opened six spots for career public servants of the secretariat to qualify," she highlighted.
The Deputy Secretary of Management and Environmental Regularity of Semas, Rodolpho Zahluth Bastos, also celebrated the award. "This recognition is the result of a collective effort that combines innovation, science, and the dedication of our public servants. The award reinforces Semas' role as a reference in sustainable solutions for the Amazon and demonstrates that investing in the qualification of our team is investing in the future of the environment in Pará," he said.
In addition to the awarded project, other works by Semas public servants were also selected and presented during the event, including: "Bioeconomic Potential of Flora in the APA Ilha do Combu (Belém, PA)," co-authored by Walber Teixeira and Wladimir Barbosa; and the works "Environmental Education and Sustainable Tourism: Educational Guide for conscious tourism on Ilha do Combu" and "Analysis of tourism activity and environmental conservation in the Combu APA: the tourists' perspective," co-authored by Tereza Cristina de Souza, Daniela da Silva, and Liene Maria Negrão.
The participation of Semas public servants in the event, held on September 16 at Cesupa, reflects the result of the state effort to align public management with scientific knowledge in the search for sustainable solutions for the region, strengthening Pará's leadership in the face of the international climate agenda.
