Two state schools in Belém received, this week, the first Mini-Laboratories of Innovation Pai D’égua, an initiative of the State Government, through the State Department of Education (Seduc), in partnership with the Court of Justice of Pará (TJPA). The action also has the support of the Regional Electoral Court (TRE), the Federal Regional Court of the 1st Region, and the Regional Labor Court of the 8th Region (TRT-8). The schools benefited were the Palmira Gabriel State School and the Lauro Sodré School.

The project's objective is to stimulate the creation of solutions for the challenges of the school environment based on the Design Thinking methodology, which prioritizes creativity, collaborative work, and practical problem-solving. The laboratories feature equipped physical spaces and involve training aimed at teachers and students.

Encouragement of Innovation and Youth Leadership

For the State Secretary of Education, Ricardo Sefer, the initiative represents an important advance in building a more innovative and participatory education. “I thank all the partners for this mini-lab initiative in state schools. It is essential for education to receive initiatives like these, which stimulate the mind, the future, and increase opportunities for our public school students in Pará. May we have more initiatives like this for all our students in the State,” emphasized the secretary.

14-year-old student Kayki Freitas da Fonseca from the 8th grade of Palmira Gabriel School highlighted the impact of the proposal on the school routine. “It was very cool to participate in the course and learn how, through the Design Thinking methodology, we can propose solutions for our school. The laboratory is an opportunity to strengthen the school community and encourage innovative solutions. We are very excited about this chance,” said the student.

The school's principal, Professor Lana Dias Ferreira, also reinforced the benefits for the school community. “We have a specific context of some conflicts and simple day-to-day situations that can gain creative, low-cost solutions, involving all segments of the school. This directly aligns with the pedagogical proposal of full-time education and with the leadership of our students,” she explained.

At Lauro Sodré State School, Principal María Elisabeth Damasceno highlighted the direct involvement of students in the school's transformation process. “This project aims to bring together school staff and students in search of solutions for the day-to-day problems of the institution. The best part is that the student will be the main subject in the search for these solutions.”

The coordinator of the Pai D’égua Laboratory at TJPA, Judge Charles Menezes, explained the origin and expansion prospects of the project. “Our idea is to start small, but we have a big dream: to spread this project to schools in Pará and, in the future, to Brazil. Innovation cannot be just a topic for the Judiciary; it also needs to be present in education,” said the magistrate.

With the delivery of the first two mini-laboratories, the partnership between Seduc and the Judiciary strengthens the commitment to a more creative, participatory public education connected to the transformations of society.
