The State Department of Education of Pará (Seduc) is participating in Brasília (DF) in the Data Governance and Artificial Intelligence in Education Workshop, promoted by the Ministry of Education (MEC). The meeting started on Monday (18) and continues this Tuesday (19), with managers and specialists from across the country to discuss the formulation of national policies aimed at digital transformation in education.

Seduc is represented by the state coordinator of the Center for Innovation and Sustainability in Basic Education (Ciseb), Rafael Herdy, and by the director of Technological Resources, Jó Elder Vasconcelos. The presence of the State reinforces the Government's commitment to actively contribute to strengthening data governance and the ethical use of artificial intelligence in the teaching-learning process.

“It is essential that the State is connected to the strategic agendas of the country, contributing to the construction of innovative public policies that ensure a fairer, more inclusive, and data-driven education. The consolidation of an integrated national agenda will allow for greater transparency, security, and usability of information, expanding the benefits for the entire school community,” highlighted Rafael Herdy, coordinator of Ciseb.

During the meeting, topics such as the creation of an integrated national education data platform, the challenges of ensuring availability and quality of information, and the strategic role of artificial intelligence in supporting teachers and students are discussed, always focusing on ethical values and personalized learning.

For Jó Elder Vasconcelos, director of Technological Resources, the event is a milestone for the country's digital education.

“This meeting has two central objectives. The first is to discuss the MEC management system, which seeks to unify in a national platform the data of all students, avoiding rework and ensuring protection of information under the LGPD. The second is to discuss the use of artificial intelligence as an educational tool, its regulation, and pedagogical application. It is a starting point for building a unified public policy that ensures the responsible use of AI in Brazilian schools.”

With this participation, the Government of the State of Pará, through Seduc, reaffirms its commitment to position Pará at the forefront of digital, innovative, and inclusive education, aligned with the major global challenges of the data and artificial intelligence era.

Technological advances in education in Marajó

Still in Brasília, Seduc representatives met with the project officer from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to align strategies for technological implementation, innovation, and educational inclusion in the municipality of Breves, in the Marajó archipelago.

Among the planned initiatives is the creation of a Center for Innovation and Sustainability in Basic Education (Ciseb) in Breves, aimed at training teachers and students in technology, promoting digital integration and creative learning.

Another highlight is the “EDUCASTEM2030” project, a global initiative by UNESCO that seeks to increase female participation in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, promoting gender equity and reducing inequalities.
