National Secretary of Public Security visits PM Command in Belém and presents strategic investments in combating crime
Pará receives new equipment from Senasp and joins qualification projects and body cameras
On Tuesday (12), the National Secretary of Public Security, Mario Luiz Sarrubbo, along with the team from the Ministry of Justice, conducted an institutional and technical visit to the General Command of the Military Police in Belém, and presented the investments made possible by the National Secretariat of Public Security (Senasp) through the State Fund for Public Security (Fesp), linked to the Secretariat of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup).
During the ceremony, two Terms of Adherence to the National Projects of "Qualification of the Use of Force" and "Body Cameras" were also signed, aimed at the Military Police of Pará.
Signing of the Adherence Term to the Project
The adherence to the National Body Cameras Project is an initiative of the National Secretariat of Public Security (Senasp) that aims to implement and standardize the use of the equipment in the police forces of the country.
The term, signed by the National Secretary of Public Security, Mario Luiz Sarrubbo, by the State Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense, Ualame Fialho Machado, and by the General Commander of the PM of Pará, Colonel José Dilson Melo de Souza Júnior, establishes mutual cooperation for the execution of the actions provided in the work plan, including the acquisition of equipment, training of agents, regulation of use, and monitoring of results.
The project seeks to increase transparency, strengthen social control, and qualify the use of force, aligning Pará with national public security guidelines. The term is valid for five years and may be extended.
"It is an honor to receive the National Secretary of Public Security and his team here at the General Command of the Military Police of Pará. This visit reinforces our joint commitment to strengthen security in our state.
The signing of the Terms of Adherence to the National Projects of 'Qualification of the Use of Force' and 'Body Cameras' is an important step to ensure more transparency and efficiency in our actions. The new equipment and vessels delivered will enhance our operational capacity, better protecting the population and our police officers.
I thank the Ministry of Justice and the National Secretariat of Public Security for their partnership and ongoing support,” explained the General Commander of the Military Police, Colonel Dilson Júnior.
On the occasion, the National Secretary of Public Security and his team conducted a technical inspection of the equipment delivered and destined for the Military Police of Pará in 2025. Among them are: 200 electro-electronic weapons, 2,000 energized cartridges (minimum range of 7.5 m), 200 inert cartridges for training, 200 batteries, 200 holsters, sprayers, ballistic vests, cartridge holders, hard cases, armored vehicles, bomb suits, and a 200 HP fast boat.
"The Use of Force Project makes it very clear that the idea of the Ministry of Justice and Security is to have an excellent police force, prepared, with various instruments and with a graduated use of force, using non-lethal weapons when sufficient to protect life, and lethal weapons when necessary to exercise public security and also protect the lives of the innocent. This is our work, this is our mission, a mission that we have sought to carry forward always with great caution, care, and responsibility,” emphasized the National Secretary of Public Security, Mário Sarrubbo.
More investments - During the agenda, Pará, through the Secretariat of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), received two new vessels with a 200 HP engine, made possible by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security. The boats aim to strengthen the actions of the Amazon Plan: Security and Sovereignty – AMAS Plan, expanding public security actions and combating organized crime in the state.
The vessels are six meters long, have a capacity for four people, GPS, echo sounder, siren, flashing lights, life jackets, canopy, nautical rescue kit, and road trailer. The investment totaled R$ 1,156,000.00.
The Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), Ualame Machado, highlighted the relevance of the coordination between the forces and the investments for the State. "It is important to always preach and promote the integration of security forces. The National Secretary of Public Security, Mario Sarrubbo, was here with us today, in an agenda that included the inspection of deliveries made by Senasp, in addition to the formalization of new equipment deliveries for the Military Police of Pará. We also formalized two important terms of adherence for the courses on the progressive use of force, a fundamental resource for expanding the use of body cameras by our security forces. We have already used these cameras, and now, with the transfer from the Ministry of Justice, we will be able to increase this number over the next two years, increasing the number of equipped police officers in the state. This partnership and investment are of extreme importance for public security in Pará," he concluded.
