Sectet certifies 20 students in pastry at Usina da Paz Terra Firme
The module of the Gastronomy course focused on pastry expands knowledge and opportunities in the job market

Students from the Gastronomy course completed another qualification in the pastry field on Friday (August 1st). Through this initiative, the State Secretariat for Science, Technology, and Higher, Professional, and Technological Education (Sectet) awarded certificates to 20 students in the module "Basic Pastry for Parties and Events," which lasted 40 hours and included guest chefs.
During the classes, students learned to cook banoffee, lemon pie, pineapple tortilla, French madeleine, Italian straw, love strawberry, chocolate cake, cupcake, and other well-known recipes in the pastry area.

According to Denis Lima, chef and instructor of the course at Usina da Paz Terra Firme in Belém, the course aimed to teach recipes that provide students with a real opportunity to start a business and generate income. "Pastry requires practice, patience, and love. The students were able to explore the world of pastry, learn simple and accessible techniques. Today we had on the closing menu the famous 'love strawberry.' An attraction for our students to take advantage of the popularity of the sweet and also to stay updated in the market," said the professional.

Learning – Socorro Pantoja Machado, who already works in the pastry field, stated that she sought out Usina da Paz Terra Firme to enhance her qualifications. "I already work with brigadeiros, which are my main source of income, and I saw this course as an opportunity to expand my knowledge. It was at Usina that I did my first qualification, in the Gastronomy course, and now I am further improving my skills in pastry. I am sure that with this learning, new doors will open. Sectet is helping me grow as a professional and entrepreneur," she assured.
For student Sérgio Fernandes de Lima, 56 years old, the course was very important for those seeking encouragement in gastronomy to enter the job market. "I feel fulfilled cooking, and having the opportunity to start a business in the pastry field is a unique opportunity. Culinary provides affection, and it can also provide financial benefits. I hope to take more courses," he added.
