Twenty-five professionals from the municipal education system of Itaituba, in the southwest of Pará, participated in a first aid training promoted by the Regional Hospital of Tapajós (HRT).

The action is part of the guidelines of the Lucas Law (Federal Law 13.722/2018), which establishes the obligation for training educators and school staff to act in emergency situations.

Participants included pedagogical instructors, mediators, and caregivers who work at the Marcelly Ayala Ferreira Figueira Daycare, an institution that serves children in full-time early childhood education.

The training content covered practical guidelines on choking maneuvers, responding to fainting, seizures, falls, injuries, and other types of physical trauma, focusing on the school reality.

The training was conducted by a nurse and a physiotherapist. Teacher Luana Ramos, one of the participants, emphasized the relevance of the learning. “We learned how to act in situations that require quickness and calm. The guidelines on choking and falls were especially important, as these are situations that can occur frequently. Today I feel more prepared,” she stated.

The daycare coordinator Marisandra de Jesus Rocha also highlighted the importance of the training for the institution's daily routine. “Our unit serves small children throughout the day, and this type of training is essential to ensure a safer environment. The team left feeling more confident and prepared to handle emergencies,” she assessed.

Theory and practice

According to the care manager Carlos Henrique, this is the first edition of the project, which will be expanded to all early childhood education institutions in the municipality. “The first aid training contributes to the safety of the school community. Our goal is to offer this training continuously, reaching each educational unit. Health and education walk together in prevention and the promotion of life,” the manager emphasized.

The initiative reinforces the commitment of the Government of Pará to promote integrated actions between the health and education sectors, focusing on the protection of childhood and strengthening municipal public policies.
