With the increase in the movement of vacationers on Cotijuba Island, in the insular area of Belém, during the July holidays, the Civil Police carried out a preventive action aimed at protecting women and confronting sexual harassment on Thursday (18). The initiative was part of Operation Summer 2025, coordinated by the Directorate for the Care of Vulnerable Groups (DAV), with support from the River Police Station (DPFlu).

The action informed beachgoers and areas of high traffic about the importance of reporting in cases of violence, especially sexual harassment, which tends to increase in places with a large concentration of people.

Approach upon arrival at the island

Information - Educational approaches were carried out and informative materials were distributed. Posters with QR Codes were placed in strategic locations, allowing direct access to the Virtual Specialized Police Station for Women's Assistance (Deam Virtual). The platform offers the possibility of registering police reports and requesting protective measures online, without the need to physically attend a police station.

“The presence of the Civil Police reinforces the commitment to the safety of women, ensuring accessible channels for reporting and support, especially in areas that are difficult to reach. The Deam Virtual represents an important advancement in assisting victims of violence, expanding access to justice with agility and discretion,” said delegate João Castanho.

The action had the logistical support of the River Group, which enabled the movement of police teams to the island and accompanied the execution of the activity in coastal areas.

The Civil Police continues to operate throughout the summer, providing information, protection, and support to the people of Pará and tourists visiting the State.
