With the aim of integrating technologies into the school routine and qualifying teaching practice, the Dom Calábria State School, located in Marituba, held a workshop on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education on Friday (18). The activity brought together teachers from Elementary and High School, as well as school managers, promoting an immersion in digital tools that can optimize planning, dynamize classes, and value the educator's time.

The workshop, titled "Plan better, teach better," was designed especially for the professionals of the unit, but also included representatives from other schools linked to the Benevides Regional Education Board. The proposal aimed to present creative and accessible solutions to the challenges of school life, encouraging student protagonism and pedagogical innovation.

"I hope the workshop contributes to teachers understanding the potential of artificial intelligence as an ally in pedagogical work, without replacing them. The intention is for them to feel more confident in using AI tools in planning, assessment, material production, and school communication," stated Professor Paulo Petterson, organizer of the workshop.

Practical content and collaboration among educators

The program included a practical introduction to the concept of AI and its presence in everyday life, followed by the demonstration of tools aimed at planning, developing assessments and teaching materials, as well as school management. Participants also conducted a collective mapping of the main pedagogical challenges and, in groups, created materials using AI. The closing included a debate on the ethical and efficient use of technology in public education.

"Even before the workshop, I was already using artificial intelligence tools. The workshop came to add new possibilities for using AI in teaching routines, especially as support in planning and solving issues," reported Israel González, a teacher in Elementary School.

Professor Louise Leal also approved the initiative. "The workshop made me reflect on new ways to plan lessons, making them more dynamic and personalized. Tools like ChatGPT and Canva proved to be viable for adapting content and creating materials," she highlighted.

Innovation in the school routine

The workshop adds to other initiatives of the school that integrate technology into pedagogical practice, such as the Robotics Project and activities in Mathematics and its Technologies. The training expands teachers' repertoire and strengthens the commitment to innovative public education focused on student development.
