Student from the state network of Pará participates in a national seminar on AI in Brasília
The invitation is a result of her prominence in the theme, especially in the 1st National Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (Onia), where she won a silver medal.

Student Samiah Lopes, from the Marechal Cordeiro de Farias State School in Belém, is about to experience a transformative opportunity. She has been invited to participate in the seminar "AI in Basic Education: Building National References," which will take place on July 17 and 18 in Brasília (DF). The invitation is a result of her prominence in the theme, especially in the 1st National Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (Onia), where she won a silver medal, demonstrating excellence and leadership in the topic of artificial intelligence applied to education.
The nomination occurred following a visit by representatives of the Ministry of Education (MEC) to the Center for Innovation and Sustainability in Basic Education (Ciseb) of the State Department of Education of Pará (Seduc), held between June 25 and 27, 2025. During the visit, the MEC representative had the opportunity to learn more about the projects and actions developed by the Center, which demonstrate a high standard of pedagogical and technical quality, as well as a strong commitment to innovation and sustainability in basic education. In this context, the student was nominated.

"Participating in the National Artificial Intelligence Olympiad was a transformative experience. From the beginning, I faced the challenge with great dedication and curiosity, as I have always had a keen interest in technology and artificial intelligence. This result has brought me a special opportunity: to be nominated by Seduc to participate in the panel at the seminar, which will be held in Brasília. It will be an honor to represent my school, my state, and public school students alongside specialists in the field. Ciseb has been essential in my education, and I hope my journey inspires other students to believe in their own potential. Education transforms lives," emphasizes the student, who is in the 9th grade of elementary school.
The seminar promotes inter-institutional dialogue on the ethical, critical, and pedagogical integration of AI in basic education, aiming to contribute to the construction of national references that guide public policies, pedagogical practices, and school management. The proposal is to build contextualized consensuses that serve as a basis for guidelines and public policies aimed at digital transformation in education, respecting regional diversities and the principles of inclusion and equity.
On the first day, in addition to the opening with authorities from MEC and UNESCO, the program includes panels on education and AI, the launch of digital references, and the panel on 'Artificial Intelligence, Learning, and Curriculum - Promoting Students' Digital Skills,' which will feature the participation of Pará student Samiah Lopes. The day will conclude with a panel on educational management. On the second day, participants will follow panels on AI in pedagogical practice and digital resources, concluding with acknowledgments and defining the next steps.

Professor Célia França from Seduc, who will accompany the student, highlighted the importance of the student's participation in the event and reinforced the state network's commitment to the civic and technological education of students. She emphasized the role of Ciseb, a space dedicated to promoting sustainability, strengthening citizenship, and immersing in technology and innovation, focusing on curricular learning and the development of new skills.
"It is a great achievement for Pará and for Ciseb, a space created precisely to prepare students and teachers to deal with the most current technologies, such as artificial intelligence. The participation of student Samiah in a national event shows that the Center is already fulfilling its role in strengthening youth leadership and encouraging the conscious use of technology. This inspires other young people to believe in their own potential and reinforces that public school can open doors to great opportunities. The expectation for the trip is very positive, as we want to learn, exchange experiences, and show that Pará has concrete initiatives for innovation, sustainability, and inclusion in education," said the professor.
The event, organized by the Ministry of Education (MEC), in partnership with UNESCO in Brazil and the Regional Center for Studies on the Development of the Information Society (Cetic.br | NIC.br), will bring together public education managers, basic education professionals, teacher trainers, and researchers in the fields of education and technology, with the aim of discussing the responsible, safe, ethical, and pedagogical use of artificial intelligence in schools.
