In June, 15 municipalities secure inclusion in the Brazilian Tourism Map
Presence on the Map boosts visibility and investments in the sector, strengthening the image of Pará's destinations and the growth of tourism activity in the State

The State Department of Tourism (Setur) ensured, in June, the presence of 15 more municipalities from Pará in the Brazilian Tourism Map, a strategic tool of the federal government that guides public policies and investments in the sector. With the new additions, the State now has 82 municipalities recognized on the Map, consolidating the strengthening of the regionalization policy and the growth of tourism activity in Pará.
Among the municipalities that renewed their presence are Abaetetuba (Tourism Region of Tocantins), Belém (RT Belém), Canaã dos Carajás (RT Carajás), Conceição do Araguaia and São Félix do Xingu (RT Araguaia), Dom Eliseu (RT Capim), Itupiranga (RT Lago de Tucuruí), Jacareacanga (RT Alto Tapajós), Medicilândia (RT Xingu) and Tracuateua (RT Amazônia Atlântica Caeté).

The municipalities of Placas (RT Xingu), Rurópolis (RT Alto Tapajós), São Domingos do Araguaia (RT Carajás), São Domingos do Capim (RT Amazônia Atlântica Guamá) and Senador José Porfírio (RT Xingu) were included for the first time, marking an unprecedented achievement and the beginning of a new cycle of strengthening local tourism management.
Coordination - The Brazilian Tourism Map is the main guiding instrument of the Ministry of Tourism for defining investments and promotional actions for destinations. Its construction is based on technical criteria, according to MTur Ordinance No. 9, of April 24, 2025, such as the existence of a municipal tourism body, an active council, a specific budget for the sector, and service providers registered in Cadastur. Municipalities need to be regionally coordinated and present evidence demonstrating their capacity to develop tourism in a planned and sustainable manner.

According to Hugo Almeida, manager of Structuring Tourist Destinations at Setur and state interlocutor of the Tourism Regionalization Program, the achievement is the result of collaborative work among different levels of management. “The success of including municipalities in the Brazilian Tourism Map is a direct reflection of the joint action between Setur and municipal tourism secretariats, the network of regional interlocutors of the Tourism Regionalization Program, and municipal tourism councilors. The recognition of these efforts is essential for the advancement and consolidation of tourism in the State through local engagement in promoting the sector,” said the manager.
Setur, through the State Program for Supporting Municipal Tourism Management, provides continuous technical assistance to municipalities, monitoring all stages of the process and ensuring that requirements are met. Registration on the Map is valid for one year and can be done at any time, as long as the municipality meets the established requirements and submits the documentation through the Brazilian Tourism Map Information System (Sismapa).
