The Secretary of Finance of Pará (Sefa) held, from June 23 to 25, the course Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Public Procurement, bringing together servants from the Tax Authority, the State General Comptroller (CGE), and the State Secretariat for Planning and Administration (Seplad).

The training of 50 public servants is part of a series of actions aimed at modernizing the public administration in Pará, focusing on governance practices, compliance, risk prevention, and the use of innovative technologies in public procurement, and concludes the training cycle within the Risk Management Project of Sefa, which is funded by the Program for the Modernization of State Tax Authorities, Profisco II, a credit line from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

Exercises simulating everyday situations of public administrations were conducted, focusing on the strategic use of AI to mitigate errors, ensure efficiency, and increase transparency. Participants learned how artificial intelligence can assist in drafting terms of reference and contracting strategies.

Led by Rafael Mota, a specialist in public procurement and risk management, the course addressed the impacts of artificial intelligence on public sector procurement processes.

“The partnership between Sefa, CGE, and Seplad represents a joint effort to raise the technical standard of public servants and consolidate management based on efficiency, ethics, and innovation. The expectation is that the tools and knowledge acquired during the Risk Management and Internal Controls training cycle will be applied in the daily operations of the institutions, promoting concrete changes in the way contracts are made,” said the Internal Control Coordinator of Sefa, Luciano Soares.
