Signing of the Technical Cooperation Agreement between the two institutions

The Pará Center for Hemotherapy and Hematology Foundation (Hemopa) and the State University of Pará (Uepa) celebrated, on Thursday (29), the signing of the Technical Cooperation Agreement between the two institutions. The ceremony was held at Hemopa's headquarters, located in the Batista Campos neighborhood in Belém, bringing together authorities, professors, researchers, and staff.

The partnership's main objective is to train Hemopa staff in stricto sensu postgraduate courses, strengthening the formation of masters and doctors, as well as consolidating the institution as an environment for scientific production and continuous improvement of the hemotherapy and hematology services provided to the population of Pará.

Paulo Bezerra – President of Hemopa: “Strategic partnership to strengthen public health”

During the ceremony, the president of the Hemopa Foundation, Paulo André Castelo Branco Bezerra, highlighted the strategic importance of the initiative. “The importance of this event, which we are having today with Hemopa and the State University of Pará, is a visionary moment for us and strategic for the training of the institution's staff. Hemopa has a very important mission, not only to care for hemotherapy, hematology, and support for transplants in the State of Pará, but also to develop its staff in the area of teaching and research, which is very important. It adds value so that we can continue to operate in the area of public health in an excellent manner, not only for our audience, donors, and patients, but for the entire area of public health in the State of Pará.”

Clay Chagas – Rector of Uepa: “Integration between practice and theory in knowledge production”

The rector of the State University of Pará, Professor Dr. Clay Anderson Nunes Chagas, also emphasized the mutual gains of cooperation between the institutions. “It is very important to understand that, within this process of a postgraduate agreement, there is a double gain from the perspective of understanding science, both for Hemopa and for the university, as we can exchange experiences. Hemopa, with its practical daily routine, and the university, with its theoretical and academic base. The combination of these two parts allows us to produce knowledge that is much more tangible, much more scientific, aligned with what we do in our daily lives.” The rector also reinforced Uepa's commitment to the decentralization of education: “Yes, this is a proposal that we are bringing and are already implementing. Every time we sign an agreement, it is a way to decentralize. The idea is to increasingly expand this education throughout the state, starting from our units and partner institutions.”

During the program, professors representing Uepa's postgraduate programs presented the research lines and academic opportunities available. Professor Dr. Laura Vidal, coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Nursing (PPGENF), highlighted the direct impact of the initiative on the assistance provided by the Foundation: “The inclusion of Hemopa staff in Uepa's postgraduate programs significantly contributes to the qualification of assistance in hemotherapy and hematology. I believe that, from this inclusion, they will be able to produce knowledge directly related to Hemopa's mission. This will enable the development of studies that will strengthen both patient assistance, which is the main focus and essence of our daily work at Hemopa, and management. Therefore, I consider this a very interesting and necessary strategy.”

The technical advisor of the Teaching and Research Center (Nepes) of Hemopa, Eidy Ferreira, explained the next steps of the partnership and how the center will support interested staff. “The implementation of the agreement marks the beginning of a journey of professional improvement. To ensure the success of this partnership, we will hold, already in June, the workshop ‘Pathway for Building Research Projects’, focusing on preparing candidates. Nepes will act as a support pillar, offering training, individual guidance, monitoring during the process, and continuous dissemination of opportunities. We are committed to facilitating our staff's access to this valuable development opportunity, strengthening Hemopa's technical staff.”

Also participating in the presentations were professors Dr. Amanda Sabbá and Dr. Tiago Silveira (PPGCIPE), Professor Dr. João Colares (PPGED), Professor Dr. Iedo Santos (PPGTEC), and Professor Dr. Luciane Sobral (PPREAB), who detailed their areas of expertise and possibilities for integration with Hemopa.

Also present were Uepa's vice-rector, Professor Dr. Ilma Pastana Ferreira, the pro-rector of Research and Postgraduate Studies, Professor Dr. Jofre Jacob da Silva Freitas, the director of Postgraduate Development, Professor Dr. Luely Oliveira da Silva, and the director of Research Development, Professor Dr. Luana de Melo Pereira Fernandes.
