Sefa inspectors seize over R$ 1.2 million in irregular goods in southern and northeastern Pará
Actions took place at the tax posts in Conceição do Araguaia and Cachoeira do Piriá; among the seized items are hyperbaric chambers, cell phones, and processed wood

State revenue inspectors from the Secretary of Finance of Pará (Sefa) seized goods valued at over R$ 1.2 million on May 23 and 24 during inspection actions at the Araguaia post in Conceição do Araguaia and the Gurupi post in Cachoeira do Piriá. The seizures occurred due to tax irregularities, such as the lack of tax documentation and non-payment of ICMS.
In Conceição do Araguaia, in the southeast of the state, two hyperbaric chambers worth a total of R$ 1.1 million were seized. The equipment, intended for a non-taxpayer individual, left Mogi das Cruzes (SP) bound for Redenção (PA). The approach occurred at km 15 of PA-447.
“The driver of a truck presented several invoices with recipients in Pará. During the verification, we found that the ICMS Differential Rate (Difal) had not been previously collected, as required by law,” explained the coordinator of the tax unit, Renato Couto.
In light of the irregularity, a Seizure and Deposit Term (TAD) was issued for the amount of R$ 228,148.14. After the amount was collected, the cargo was released.
The next day (24), at the same unit, inspectors seized 34 cell phones of different models and nine satellite dishes, found in a separate box in the driver's cabin. The goods were not accompanied by an invoice.
“Upon physically checking the vehicle, we found the cargo hidden, without tax documentation,” reported one of the inspectors.
The cargo was valued at R$ 74,492.20, with the issuance of a TAD for the amount of R$ 25,476.34, corresponding to the tax and the fine.

Seizure of processed wood
On the same day, at the Gurupi tax post in Cachoeira do Piriá, northeastern Pará, a load of 1,900 sets of processed wood portals was intercepted after the vehicle attempted to evade inspection. The load had left Moju (PA) bound for Iaçu (BA).
“The box truck went straight past the tax post, which required the team to intercept it and bring it back to the yard. During the inspection, it was found that the vehicle was transporting processed wood without the proper tax documentation,” reported Gustavo Bozola, coordinator of the unit.

The driver presented an invoice for R$ 13,534.08 and forest guides, but the quantity of material (38 cubic meters) was undervalued, according to the Sefa Minimum Price Bulletin. Additionally, there was no transport knowledge of the load — a mandatory document that also generates ICMS collection on freight.
The load value was adjusted to R$ 92,132.46. Two TADs were issued for a total of R$ 19,900.62, referring to the tax and the fine.
