State and City Hall deliver new asphalt work in the Tapanã neighborhood, in Belém
The action integrates the legacies of COP30 and reinforces the commitment to improving urban mobility in the capital of Pará

The Government of Pará remains committed to investments in infrastructure and urban mobility for the population of Belém. On the afternoon of this Friday (23), the State, in partnership with the City Hall of Belém, delivered another paved street in the Tapanã neighborhood. The initiative integrates the legacies of the COP30, the World Climate Conference, which will take place in November in the capital of Pará.
According to the Secretary of Public Works, Ruy Cabral, investments in paving provide concrete improvements in the daily lives of the population. "The investment in asphalt works is another way for the State Government to ensure immediate transformation in the daily lives of the population. This is also being intensified within the improvements provided by the arrival of COP30 to Belém. Many residents of Tapanã, one of the neighborhoods that has received the most investments in paving since 2019, can already take pride in not stepping in mud during the winter and not dealing with dust in the summer," he emphasized.
More mobility and quality of life
In total, 34 streets in Tapanã will undergo works totaling 11.5 kilometers of interventions aimed at urban mobility and quality of life. The joint action of the federal, state, and municipal governments represents a lasting legacy for more than 69,000 residents of the neighborhood, one of the most populous in Belém.
"We are bringing asphalt to the entire city. This shows the great social development work that Belém is experiencing. With the support of the population and the partnership with the Government of Pará, we will continue to take care of those who need it most. We will move forward with the largest asphalt and sanitation package in the history of Tapanã," highlighted the mayor of Belém, Igor Normando.
Streets already delivered and new sections included
Among the 12 streets that have already been completely paved in Tapanã is the 1st Transversal, which received asphalt paving services, drainage, earthworks, sidewalks, curbs, and signage.

Resident of the Cabano community, the self-employed Joyce Sousa celebrated the delivery. "This street was a chaos. We lived with the difficulties of potholes and flooding during the rainy season. Now it looks beautiful. I want to thank Governor Helder Barbalho for the opportunity for improvement he is providing for all of us who live here in Cabanos," she stated.
In addition to the 1st Transversal, the streets Castor, José Maria da Costa, Amoras, Almirante Tamandaré (Section 1), and the alleys 01, 02 de Dezembro, 05, 07, 08, 10, and 17 were also benefited.

Another 22 streets in the neighborhood will also receive infrastructure services from the State Department of Public Works (Seop), including: Estrada do Ranário, Santa Aparecida, 2nd and 3rd Transversal, 4th Street, Dois de Julho, Santos Dias, Chico Mendes, Craveiro, Cabral, 1st to 3rd Street, Alameda 23 de Fevereiro, Residencial Sol de Verão, Almirante Tamandaré (Section 2), Marca da Vitória, Santa Lúcia, Independência, Jader Barbalho, Bacabeira, and Bacuri.
Residents recognize the advances
José Carlos Pereira, who recently moved to Tapanã, reported the improvements in the neighborhood. "The population tried to keep the street clean, even with the lack of asphalt. Now everything is going very well. I used to live in Outeiro, but I came back because I saw the improvement. It was complicated for a car or an ambulance to enter here. May this work continue, as it is great," he stated.
Strategic investment for Belém
The "Asphalt COP30" program, executed by the State Government and the City Hall of Belém, with support from the Federal Government through Itaipu Binacional, has a total investment of R$ 231,046,092.15. "Today we delivered another street within this important investment that is the Asphalt COP30. Governor Helder Barbalho and Vice Governor Hana Ghassan continue to be active in this work for the communities that make up the neighborhoods of our capital," emphasized Cristina Guedes, director of Inspection and Monitoring of Works at Seop.
