Guamá celebrates the delivery of the State School of Full-Time Paulo Maranhão in Belém
With the new unit, the Government of Pará reaches the 170th school unit delivered, fully rebuilt and available to the state public school network

The public education in Pará continues to advance with concrete investments that reinforce the work and commitment of the Government of Pará, through the State Department of Education (Seduc). These are works, programs, and initiatives that enhance the results of students and teachers in the state network. And, on this Wednesday (14), it was the turn of the school community in the Guamá neighborhood to celebrate the

“It was 12 years of waiting for this moment and today the school community has a beautiful, structured school, a school that is a reference for public education in our State. And if the school made a leap in Ideb 2023, just imagine now, with this structure, I am sure that the Paulo Maranhão School will compete to have the best Ideb in Pará. We will show that now it is a new school, a new environment, but it has the same prepared and qualified teachers that Paulo Maranhão is proud to have. This is a full-time school. And with this, we have reached 170 new or rebuilt schools and we are making a leap in full-time education so that we can implement an education of ever better quality,” said the governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho.

In total, R$ 8.3 million were invested in the construction of the unit, which has the capacity to serve 400 students from the 6th to the 9th grade of elementary school in the full-time modality. The unit is fully prepared for students, teachers, and other staff, with 15 classrooms; science laboratory; computer room; reading room; multimedia room; Specialized Educational Service (AEE) room; sports court; auditorium; rooms for the principal, vice-principal, and teachers; secretary; archive; pantry; storage; cafeteria; women's and men's restrooms, as well as a restroom for People with Disabilities (PCDs).

Seduc understands full-time education as a great benefit for students, who can have more quality time dedicated to their studies. This is reinforced by the Secretary of State for Education of Pará, Rossieli Soares. "This is a model that greatly improves student learning, ensuring greater opportunities for personal development and the realization of their life projects," he said.
"It's not just about having more time in school; it's about having robust pedagogical support, with thousands of projects, clubs, and other actions that enhance the teaching process. In addition, full-time students develop stronger ties with the school, the teaching staff, and other students, strengthening their sense of belonging and consequently learning more,” Rossieli emphasized.

For the school principal, the moment is one of gratitude for the appreciation of the school community. “This moment represents a great achievement, not only for me but for all the students, families, staff, and the community. I feel pride and gratitude for the reconstruction of our school. As a manager, closely following this entire process of transformation of the school and being able to deliver a more comfortable, modern, and welcoming space for our community is very rewarding,” commented Roberta Purcell.

Sixth-grade student Sofia Pires states that the new structure of the school further encourages studies. "I found the school beautiful, painted, with identification signs, very different from how it was before with dust. For me, what stands out the most are the laboratories. I am looking forward to having classes. I believe this encourages us to want to study more, it makes us want to come,” she shared.

For ninth-grade student Fábio Nicolas Maciel, it is great to see the school rebuilt. Fábio was chosen to represent the school community with a letter of thanks. “Seeing our brand new school means a lot. It is a success because this school has had other works, but this delivery is an achievement, we deserve it. I believe that the school, as it is now, fully rebuilt, with air-conditioned classrooms, a computer room, library, and science room, encourages us to study even more. We are all happy and we need to take care of the school to keep it new,” emphasized the student.

Full-time education - The state full-time schools maintain a daily workload of 9 hours and 45 hours weekly or 7 hours daily and 35 hours weekly. Seduc observes that the full-time schedule provides more resources for student development, aiming to form autonomous, supportive, and competent individuals. Schools with full-time schedules also guarantee students three daily meals (lunch and two snacks).
For 2025, the State Department of Education (Seduc) has implemented 49 more units that adopted the Full-Time Education Program (PEI), totaling 161 schools with this pedagogical model.

In addition to the increase in the number of schools, the positive impact of this expansion is clearly visible in the growth of enrollments. In 2018, full-time schools in Pará served 6,000 students; in 2025 there was a leap to 48,000 enrollments, an eightfold increase in capacity. A result that reflects the State's commitment to providing more opportunities for students, with access to quality full-time education.

With the expansion of the school network, Pará consolidates a model of education that seeks equity and excellence, ensuring that more students have access to a comprehensive educational training that prioritizes various areas of knowledge and human development.
