Natea Caetés conducts educational actions on hand hygiene with users and caregivers
Playful activities reinforced the importance of proper hand hygiene in therapeutic routines and family environments

In commemoration of the International Hand Hygiene Day, celebrated on May 5, the Autism Spectrum Disorder Care Center (Natea) Caetés promoted a series of educational actions aimed at users and their caregivers this week. The activities addressed, in a playful and interactive way, the importance of proper hand hygiene in disease prevention and health promotion, encouraging this essential habit from childhood.
The program included games and practical guidance that made learning accessible and light, especially for the child audience. The initiative aimed to encourage self-care and strengthen hygiene routines both in the therapeutic environment and in family interactions.

The manager of Natea Caetés, Tassilene Gonçalves, highlighted the relevance of the theme for the ongoing work with children and adolescents served by the unit. “Working on hand hygiene with our children and adolescents is a way to promote health from an early age, with practices they can carry into their daily lives. The habit of washing hands strengthens, and when they encounter a hospital environment, they will be able to apply this knowledge in different contexts. The playful dynamics help to reinforce the content and make learning lighter, respecting the particularities of our audience, aiming to foster more autonomy and quality of life for these individuals,” she stated.
Nurse Rafael Freire also emphasized the importance of the initiative for forming healthy habits from childhood. “The date is extremely relevant for health professionals, who reinforce the importance of a simple gesture in disease prevention. We decided to extend this reflection beyond the professional environment, extending the action throughout the week, with the aim of promoting self-care and autonomy in personal hygiene from an early age, using playful activities, respecting the time and abilities of each child,” he explained.
The actions were well received by families. Enialdo Rufino de Freitas, 58, father of Mateus da Silva de Freitas, 5, who has been undergoing therapy at the unit for almost two years, commented on the importance of the therapeutic approach.

“Very important. Hand hygiene should be a daily habit. We reinforce this learning, and at home, we already have this custom. It is essential that everyone knows the importance of this care to prevent diseases and maintain children's health,” he stated.
