Santa Casa performs 32 thousand emergency obstetric care in the last ten months
The hospital's maternity ward, which is an open door for pregnant women, has maintained significant care in the last months of 2025
From January to October of this year, the Obstetric Emergency and Urgency (UEO) area of the Santa Casa de Misericórdia do Pará Foundation attended to 32 thousand women. The UEO, which is available 24 hours a day, performs various procedures on patients seeking the institution, including: obstetric admissions, gynecology admissions, as well as treatments with medications and referrals to other hospitals.
In the last ten months, the hospital's maternity ward has performed 8,499 births (both normal and cesarean). An average of 850 births per month. For the maternity manager, Marília Gabriela, the Santa Casa do Pará is an essential institution for maternal health in the North region of Brazil. With over 300 years of existence, it has become a reference in the care and specialized assistance for high-risk pregnancies, welcoming women from all over the State.
"Operating 24 hours a day, every day of the year, the institution has an open-door obstetric emergency service, ensuring immediate reception and care for all women with complications during the pregnancy-puerperal period. In addition, it has various scenarios of expanded assistance for high-risk pregnant women, strengthening the safety and quality of maternal-infant care," informs Marília.
"The Santa Casa de Misericórdia do Pará remains a symbol of dedication and social commitment. To maintain this excellence, special care is necessary. And this care begins during prenatal guidance, including linking patients to their respective maternity wards, thus avoiding the centralization of care for women with usual risk in this maternity to ensure beds and safe assistance for high-risk pregnant women," points out the manager.
For the president of Santa Casa, Bruno Carmona, the institution reaffirms its commitment to being the largest maternity hospital in the State of Pará, which offers qualified care 100% SUS, through national certification by ONA 3 at the excellence level and international certification by Qmentum at the Platinum level. "We provide obstetric services for pregnant women every day of the year, continuously, with excellent care and in a humanized manner, just as we are a reference in the care of high-risk pregnancies," he observes.
The manager also reiterates the important role of the State Regulation Center of Sespa: "All hospital services are regulated by the State Health Secretary of Pará, where consultations are elective and all patients are attended to within a normal flow of care, ensuring greater comfort and specialized assistance."
