The II Pan-Amazonian Film Showcase, held at Cine Líbero Luxardo in Belém, continues with the screening of works produced in Latin American countries of the Amazon and states of the Legal Amazon. The official opening took place on Tuesday (11), and continues with free admission until next Sunday (16), with support from the State Secretariat of Culture (Secult).

The event is organized by the Consortium of the Legal Amazon and Rizoma Produções, in partnership with Open Society and the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI).

In addition to watching the films, spectators can participate in debate panels, which continue until this Thursday (13), always at 4 PM. The sessions occur at varied times. The complete program is available on the social media of Cine Líbero Luxardo.

Amazônia Realities - The opening featured a presentation panel, led by the showcase's curator, Gustavo Soranz, who also represents Rizoma Audiovisual. According to him, the curation included productions from all countries of the Pan-Amazon, bringing together eight feature films and 13 shorts - these with representatives from each state of the Legal Amazon.

“All the films are by directors from the countries of the Pan-Amazon, and none of them treat the region merely as a theme or landscape. They are productions that were born from these realities and reflect the multiple Amazônas. There are titles about indigenous cinema, quilombola, urban, rural, among many others,” informed Gustavo Soranz.

With the aim of popularizing Amazonian cinema and expanding public access to local productions, the project seeks to give visibility to the audiovisual makers of the region, highlighting new voices beyond the big names in cinema. The showcase includes the seven countries of the Latin American Pan-Amazon: Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Guyana, and French Guiana. Tickets can be reserved in person or online, through the Sympla platform.
