Bioeconomy Park opens COP 30 programming with Forum on low-carbon development
The goal is to discuss strategies to consolidate a low-carbon economy and value the Amazonian sociobiodiversity
The Amazon Bioeconomy and Innovation Park, in Belém, kicks off a program aimed at strengthening the bioeconomy in the region during COP 30 this Tuesday (11). The opening will be marked by the "Connections for Bioeconomy Forum: unlocking paths for low-carbon development for the Amazon," promoted by the State Secretariat for Environment, Climate and Sustainability (Semas).
The event will bring together national and international leaders, representatives from state governments, the financial sector, foundations, universities, and civil society organizations, with the aim of discussing strategies to consolidate a low-carbon economy and value the Amazonian sociobiodiversity.
During the Forum, the Inovasociobio initiative is expected to be signed, which aims to boost sustainable production chains, generating income and opportunities for traditional peoples and family farmers. The Prospera Sociobioeconomy Program, from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MMA), aimed at implementing the National Bioeconomy Strategy, will also be launched.
"The Park is a structuring facility of the State Bioeconomy Plan and will be very active during COP 30, but it is a project that transcends this moment. It was conceived as a technological hub focused on the forest bioeconomy, serving both community businesses and startups, being a permanent space for dialogue and building solutions from the Amazon for society," highlighted Camille Bemerguy, deputy secretary of Bioeconomy at Semas.
"Its structure demonstrates the commitment of the Government of Pará and Brazil to advance in a concrete and consistent manner on bioeconomy agendas, promoting sustainable development and strengthening initiatives that value the forest and the people who live in it," she added.
In addition to the Forum, the program will continue until November 17, with panels, meetings, and launches focused on innovation, sustainability, and the development of the new Amazon economy. The Park will bring together representatives from the productive sector, startups, research institutions, and forest entrepreneurs in an integrated agenda of debates, experience exchanges, and connections for sustainable business.
