On the night of this Thursday (6), the Civil Police, through the Division of Adolescent Care (DATA/Ananindeua), linked to the Directorate of Assistance to Vulnerable Groups (DAV), arrested a man and a woman caught in the act, identified as responsible for the death of a baby in Ananindeua.

“Our DATA team was called to investigate the occurrence after the ten-month-old baby was admitted to a Urgent Care Unit (UPA) in the Aurá neighborhood, in Ananindeua. Initially, the child's mother claimed that she had left the baby in the care of her partner during the night to get some money. Upon returning home, the child was already at the health unit, having been assisted by neighbors for probable choking,” said delegate Camila Jeha, responsible for the case.

After the death was confirmed, the baby's body was sent for forensic examinations, which indicated that the child showed signs of violence. Throughout the day, witnesses were heard, and in light of the facts presented, the baby's mother was arrested in the act for omission, for leaving the child in the care of her partner, who had spent the day using drugs.

“We were able to ascertain that the woman had gone out to get money from drug sales, and the partner, who has a criminal record for robbery and for being part of a criminal faction, assaulted the child. In his testimony, the suspect tried to deny any act of violence against the baby; however, in light of the evidence presented, he admitted that he was sleeping next to the victim and lost patience when the baby woke up crying, which is why he threw the child to the ground. To disguise the aggression, he started shouting for help from the neighbors, claiming that the child had fainted,” continued the delegate.

The police action also had the support of the Working Group for Vulnerable Support (GTV), linked to the Police Intelligence Center (NIP), from the Aurá Police Station and the Military Police. After the arrest records, the suspects were taken for the necessary legal procedures and forwarded to the Justice.
