In Santarém, Official Press of the State Publisher launches a call for papers and reissues classics
Publications deepen perspectives on the Amazon and the defense of democracy
The Official Press of the State of Pará (Ioepa), through the Public Publisher Dalcídio Jurandir, launched, at the Federal University of Western Pará (Ufopa), the César Leite call for papers and the reissue of the book "Verde Vagomundo", by the writer from Alenquer, Benedicto Monteiro.
The César Leite call for papers is a call for the selection of chapters that will be included in the collection "César Leite: 61 years of the Military Coup of 1964 and the Dictatorship in the Brazilian Amazon". The work will be published in digital and printed format, with free distribution and commercialization. Thus, the Government of Pará, through the Official Press of the State, reinforces its commitment to the democratization of knowledge and the preservation of Amazonian memory.
The César Leite call for papers was released on November 4 of this month and will select up to 20 unpublished texts, in article format, with up to two authors per chapter. The proposals should address themes such as the impact of the 1964 coup in the region, local resistance, and the socio-political developments of the dictatorship in the Amazon.
Reissued Tetralogy
The Dalcídio Jurandir Publisher also launched, this month, a new edition of the novel "Verde Vagomundo", by Benedicto Monteiro. The book is part of the tetralogy ("Aquele Um", "Verde Vagomundo", "O Minossauro" and "A Terceira Margem") of the writer, which will be reissued by the Public Publisher Dalcídio Jurandir by the end of the year.
The Ioepa has already donated copies of the aforementioned work by Benedicto to be delivered to the public libraries of the Tapajós Campus, in Santarém, and the Alenquer University Campus of Ufopa.
“Launching the César Leite call for papers and the book Verde Vagomundo is of enormous importance. First because we are on the eve of COP 30, where we will discuss a lot about the Amazon, and also the perspective on the Amazon needs to be increasingly close,” highlighted Jorge Panzera, president of the Official Press of the State of Pará.
Panzera added: "At the same time, we are in times of defending democracy. César Leite was a student murdered by the military dictatorship, inside a classroom at the Federal University of Pará. Benedicto Monteiro was a fundamental author for understanding the Amazon and its peoples. So, the conjunction of the realization of the César Leite call for papers and the launch of Benedicto's book is, above all, to think about the Amazon and defend democracy.”
