The Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat for Social Assistance, Labor, Employment, and Income (Seaster) and the State Secretariat for Economic Development, Mining, and Energy (Sedeme), promotes an extensive cultural program with the Museum of Pará Handicrafts (MAP), located at the São José Liberto Space, in the Jurunas neighborhood of Belém, from November 11 to 21, during COP30 (world conference on climate change).

The initiative aims to present to the world the cultural diversity of the Amazon, through unique and sustainable pieces, reinforcing the State's commitment to valuing and preserving Amazonian culture, strengthening the creative economy, and promoting cultural tourism.

Handicrafts with ancestral heritage

With the theme “Take the art of the Amazon with you”, the event will bring together more than 30 local artists and groups, in a schedule that combines music, tradition, and sustainability. Activities will be distributed between the Central Stage, Crystal Stage, and the São José Chapel, offering the public direct contact with the artistic diversity of Pará.

Sounds, knowledge, and journeys - The official opening of the MAP will be at 4 PM next Tuesday (11), with performances by the band Os Acadêmicos and the Trio Carolina, Lucas, and Ana Carolina, from 4 PM to 8 PM, with free entry.

Coordinated by Seaster and Sedeme, the experiences at the MAP will be the highlight of the program. Held at the São José Chapel, the meetings will bring together master artisans in various discussion circles, mediated by specialists from the Secretariats and the State University of Pará (Uepa), a partner institution in the initiative.

The goal of the MAP is to reinforce the role of Pará handicrafts, a manual work that values local culture and knowledge, as well as providing sustenance for dozens of families throughout the State. The entire program also counts on the partnership of the Brazilian Service of Support for Micro and Small Enterprises (Sebrae-PA) and the Postal Service.

Grupo Sancari will entertain the audience with a lot of carimbó

Regional music - During the 11 days of programming, the public will be able to enjoy performances by local and regional artists, featuring a lot of carimbó, samba, brega, pop rock, and MPB. Highlights will include Grupo Paranativo, Mariza Black, Beatles Forever, Nilson Chaves, Banda Sayonara, Fruto Sensual, and Markinho Duran. There will also be cultural projects, such as Saia de Flores, Sons Atípicos, and the Madrigal of Uepa.

Markinho Duran will be at the closing

The closing, on November 21, will be by Grupo Sancari, with carimbó, and the performance of Pará musician Markinho Duran.

Diversity for the world - The MAP was designed to act as a showcase of Amazonian culture, valuing forms of expression that will reach the world during COP30. Pará is one of the states with recognized cultural and gastronomic diversity, which includes the potential of indigenous, quilombola, and riverside peoples. Regions such as the Marajó Archipelago may be featured in the space, showcasing the beauty of the graphics perpetuated in ceramic pieces inspired by ancestral civilizations.

The MAP will bring together representative pieces from all regions of Pará, selected by a unique curation, so that the public can understand the production process.

The chosen location for the MAP, the São José Liberto Space, is a building dating back to 1749, which has housed everything from a convent to a prison. It houses the Jewelry Pole, the Pará Gem Museum, and the Artisan House, in addition to the Garden of Freedom, the Coliseum of Arts, and the Chapel with exposed stone walls.

“We have good prospects for the execution of the Museum of Pará Handicrafts, as it is a great opportunity for us to show the world all our wealth, with diversity through the exhibition of the manual work done by our people, which brings with it more than memory, but our rich history and culture. During this grand event, when the world will turn its attention to Belém, with COP30, it will be the moment for people to better understand the strength that our art and culture carry, in addition to their representativeness. More than that, the construction of a legacy, with more appreciation and opportunities for those who live from handicrafts,” said Inocencio Gasparim, head of Seaster.
