Hospital de Clínicas recruits over 300 donors in action partnered with Hemopa
With the theme "Ancestry pulses in every donation", the action related to COP30 reinforces the connection between solidarity, sustainability, and the strength of the Amazonian peoples
The Gaspar Vianna Clinical Hospital (HC), in Belém, in partnership with the Pará Hemotherapy and Hematology Center Foundation (Hemopa), held another blood donation campaign this Tuesday (4) and Wednesday (5). The initiative, which is part of the hospital's annual action calendar, brought together employees, patients, and volunteers in a gesture of solidarity and care for life.
With the theme "Ancestry pulses in every donation", the campaign highlighted the connection between solidarity, the environment, and the strength of the Amazonian peoples, in reference to COP30, which will take place in Belém next week.
According to the president of the HC Blood Collection Committee, psychologist Aline Rodrigues, this was the third campaign of the year and the fortieth conducted by the institution in partnership with Hemopa. "We reached the mark of 322 donors, and our goal is to ensure that no patient goes without blood. Those who cannot participate in the collection at the hospital can go to any Hemopa unit and donate by informing the HC code: 467," Aline emphasized.
She also added that the team prepared a welcoming and festive environment for the donors. "There was vatapá, tacacá, and a whole humanized team. Donating blood is a civic act and a beautiful way to contribute as a citizen of Pará and a citizen of the world," she emphasized.
During the action, the children from the HC pediatrics department also participated with a symbolic gesture of gratitude: they handed paper boats to the donors, representing the thanks of those who are daily benefited by this act of love and solidarity.
For social worker Betânia Mourão, from the Hemopa Donor Recruitment Management, the act of donating blood is a universal gesture that saves lives and needs to be continuous. "Blood donation is transversal; it encompasses life. We need to raise awareness among more people to join us in this fight. This partnership with HC is essential, especially for serving cardiac and renal patients, who need a constantly replenished stock," she emphasized.
Among the donors, stories of gratitude also marked the two days of the campaign. Alcione Amorim, 60, came from Minas Gerais for her son's wedding and ended up experiencing a moment of rebirth at HC. "My husband had a heart attack and was treated here with great care. From the doctors to the cleaning staff, everyone was wonderful. Donating blood is the least I can do as a form of gratitude. My blood type is O negative, and I wanted to donate to repay everything I received," she shared, emotionally.
HC employee Wilson Brito is a frequent donor and reinforces the importance of the gesture. "It is important to donate because it helps save lives. Many times the hospital needs donations to maintain the stock and ensure care. Whenever there is a campaign, I participate," he said.
