Young people complete English course from Fundação ParáPaz and prepare for COP30
The free course expands opportunities and strengthens the inclusion of young people in the economy and the job market
After a month of intense learning, 72 young people completed the English course this Tuesday (4), promoted by Fundação ParáPaz, at the João Paulo II Unit in Belém. The training aimed to prepare participants for the job market and for the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30).
During the qualification, students had practical classes and dynamics focused on real-life situations, such as customer service, mobility, shopping, and currency exchange. Teacher Gisele Ramalho worked objectively, with material in English and immediate practice exercises, so that young people could apply their learning in everyday life.
Among the students is Junielle Silva, 20, who was selected to work as a receptionist at Parque da Cidade during COP30. She stated that what she learned during the classes was essential to secure the position and to feel more prepared for the challenge.
“I participated in a selection process and got the job. And during the course, we learned basic things to guide, welcome, help with information, indicate where to catch a taxi or where the bathroom is. It was very useful, in addition to adding knowledge and confidence, because I feel more prepared and confident. My expectations are high; it’s a very important event. I have been practicing at home, even talking to the walls to train, and I think it will be great for me,” she said.
The opportunity represented a transformative learning experience for another student, Jaqueline Santana, who learned about the course through a friend's recommendation and said it was a unique chance to acquire knowledge.
“I will be able to apply what I learned and I also hope to share this knowledge with other people. I am very grateful for this chance because if I had to pay, it would be a very high amount. Having access to all of this for free was really special,” she said.
The unit coordinator, Denise Braga, emphasized the relevance of the qualification. “We are very happy with the results and the commitment of the participants. The learning acquired here will be useful not only during COP30 but also in each person's professional life,” she highlighted.
