With the themes "Bioenergy in Pará – Biogas, Biomethane and Biofuels in the Amazonian Energy Transition" and "Decarbonization of the Energy Sector: Paths to a Just Energy Transition", the Secretary of Economic Development, Mining and Energy (Sedeme) will participate in two debate panels on November 13 and 19, respectively, as part of the official program of the Pará Pavilion, located in the Green Zone of the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30).

Studies indicate that Pará has an annual potential for generating approximately 166 million m³ of biogas and 125 million m³ of biomethane. In this context, the project for energy recovery from biogas at the Marituba Sanitary Landfill will be presented, a concrete experience of integration between waste management and the generation of renewable electricity.

Panel 1 – November 13 – Castanheira Room – 4:30 PM to 5:20 PM
The first panel proposes a technical and strategic discussion on the role of the State of Pará in the Brazilian energy transition, focusing on the expansion of biogas and biomethane from the utilization of urban solid waste (USW), in addition to biofuels, such as biodiesel.

The panel will also address the advancement of projects aimed at biodiesel production in the State, featuring the company Agropalma as a panelist, which will present its biodiesel generation project from palm oil production waste.

With the participation of Sedeme, the state energy planning aimed at the expansion of biofuels, biogas, and biomethane will be presented, including the tax incentives offered for bioenergy projects. The panel will also highlight international technical cooperation actions, emphasizing the dialogue between the Government of Pará, through Sedeme, and the Embassy of Sweden in Brazil, focused on the exchange of technologies and best practices in biogas and biomethane.

By bringing together representatives from the government, the productive sector, and international institutions, the proposal seeks to present Pará as an Amazonian reference in renewable energy, promoting the integration of technological innovation, public policies, and sustainable development.

Panel 2 – November 19 – Miritizeiro Room – 2:30 PM to 3:20 PM
Continuing the program, the second panel aims to promote dialogue among representatives of the industrial sector, public policy makers, energy and climate experts, academia, and civil society. The proposal is to explore solutions that combine technological innovation, the utilization of local potentialities — such as renewable sources (hydropower, solar, and biomass), already installed energy infrastructure, and energy efficiency initiatives — and regulatory instruments that favor the transition to a cleaner, more resilient, and low-carbon energy matrix.

Considering the strategic role of Pará in the Brazilian economy and its insertion in the Amazon region, the panel will also address how decarbonization can contribute to a sustainable industrial development model capable of generating jobs and income with a lower environmental impact.
