With the aim of strengthening Environmental Education and Sustainability, curricular components present in the state education network, students from Raimunda Sena State School, located in the municipality of Curuçá, received educational kits on climate change.

The action is a partnership between the State Department of Education (Seduc), the Central Station of COP, and the Climate Observatory, international organizations that work on decentralizing the debate on climate challenges and seek to bring local communities closer to the discussions of the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30), scheduled for November in Belém.

In class, 3rd-year high school students presented pedagogical productions and ideas about environmental impacts

During the activity “Central Station of COP: Climate Change in Your Territories,” 3rd-year high school students presented pedagogical productions, reflections, and ideas about environmental impacts in their communities. The action was coordinated by teachers Flávio Lima and Warley Campos.

Student Yasmin Cristina Ferreira Brito, from the 3rd year of high school, highlighted the relevance of the content. “From the very first moment, I was impressed by the quality and clarity of the materials. The content is very good and helped deepen my knowledge in a practical and objective way. I liked it a lot and consider it extremely important for my learning.”

The school principal, Professor Paulo Henrique Barbosa, emphasized the formative role of the initiative. “It is essential for students to participate in discussions about the climate, especially since we are in the Amazon — a region of global importance. Talking about the Amazon and the climate is essential to ensure its preservation. By stimulating this reflection in youth, we plant the seed for a sustainable future, with young protagonists of this transformation.”

The students also created the "Reading Center," located on the school bulletin board to expand access to content for the entire school community. Student Laenna Marcely Ribeiro da Silva reinforced the importance of the material received.

“The Central Station of COP collection brought several books that address the environment, climate change, and the importance of the conference. One of the ones I liked the most explains the step-by-step of COP, the meaning of the acronym, where it will be held, the origin of the first conference, and the topics that will be discussed at COP30,” said Laenna Silva.

The initiative of the Central Station of COP aims to democratize knowledge about the climate crisis, connect communities to the decisions of the conference, and amplify local voices on environmental impacts, strengthening the protagonism of Amazonian education in building a more sustainable future. More than 200 kits have already been distributed to state schools.
