Pará participates in the 97th meeting of the National Council of Secretaries of Security in São Paulo
The meeting brings together representatives from the security sector to discuss financial crimes, the use of drones in police operations, and joint action with the Public Prosecutor's Office
The 97th ordinary meeting of the National Council of Secretaries of Public Security (Consesp), held in São Paulo (SP), was opened on Thursday (23) and will continue until Saturday (25), with the participation of heads of public security from the 27 federative units. The schedule includes panels on financial crimes, the use of drones in police operations, integration between the Public Prosecutor's Office and security forces, and technological innovations applied to public security.
The Consesp meeting took place alongside the meeting of the Council of Military Police Commanders, Military Firefighters, leaders of Civil Police, Scientific Police, and Penitentiary Administration, as well as the International Police Operations Congress (COP International 2025), where defense and police-use products are exhibited. The Public Security System of Pará already uses cutting-edge technology and equipment.
Cooperation - At the opening of the Council meeting on Thursday (23), the results of the 96th Ordinary Meeting, held in Manaus (AM), were discussed, where a technical cooperation agreement was formalized between the federative units for data sharing and interoperability between security systems.
The Technical Cooperation Agreement for the integration of databases, the bills filed based on the Consesp's Package of Infraconstitutional Drafts, the regulation of financial crimes, and the progress of the PEC (Proposed Amendment to the Constitution) of Public Security were also presented.
The Secretary of State for Public Security and Social Defense, Ualame Machado, emphasized the importance of "not only participating in discussions but also discussing important points related to the PEC of Public Security and the bills that Consesp has forwarded to the National Congress. Of the eight, four have already been approved, and the other four are in urgent regime, with expedited processing for approval. It is also important to evaluate new mechanisms for interlinking databases and exchanging experiences. These meetings are crucial for us to act nationally in an integrated manner," he stated.
Consesp will also address the application of drones in public security operations, the integrated action between the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Public Security Forces, the National Criminal Information System (Sinic), and the preparation for the election of the next president of Consesp.
Of the nine draft bills proposed by Consesp and delivered to the presidency of the Chamber of Deputies, eight have already been converted into bills, and four have been approved in the Chamber and forwarded to the Federal Senate. The topics of the four approved bills involve: collaborative action mechanisms between control and criminal prosecution bodies; increased penalties for homicide and bodily injury against state agents; repression of crimes committed by criminal organizations, and the typification of the crime of City Domination, known as "new cangaço".
Alongside Consesp, the International Police Operations Congress (COP International 2025) is taking place, aimed at strengthening integration between states and advancing legislative proposals in the area. The event brings together representatives from society, agents, authorities, and the largest companies from Brazil and other countries, focusing on strategic debates and partnerships that will shape the future of public security in Latin America.
