Hemopa Foundation conducts blood donation campaign at the Amazon University Center
Action held on the Uniesamaz campus in Belém mobilized students and teachers to strengthen the state's blood supply
The Pará Hemotherapy and Hematology Center Foundation (Hemopa) held a blood donation campaign on Thursday (23) in partnership with the Amazon University Center (Uniesamaz), located in the Reduto neighborhood of Belém. The action is part of the Foundation's external collection schedule, which aims to bring the act of donating closer to the young public, in order to expand service coverage throughout the capital. A complete structure was set up on campus, with a screening room, offices, and collection chairs, ensuring comfort and safety for volunteers.
The initiative also reinforces the importance of integration between Hemopa and higher education institutions, promoting solidarity and citizenship among students and staff of the University Center.
According to Perla Santarosa, social worker at the Donor Recruitment Management (Gecad) of the Hemopa Foundation, the action is the result of an articulation with Uniesamaz, an institution that maintains a commitment to social responsibility. "Today's campaign is the result of a very important partnership with the Amazon University Center, which involves its students in this blood donation process and strengthens the culture of solidarity," she emphasized.
Citizenship - For Professor Andréa Monteiro, coordinator of the Biomedicine course at Uniesamaz, the partnership with Hemopa has already become part of the academic calendar and directly contributes to the students' citizenship formation. "This partnership with Hemopa has been happening for two years, and it always mobilizes our Biomedicine students in a very engaged manner. It is a rewarding experience that reinforces the social and professional role of each student, showing the importance of participating in health campaigns and donating blood," the professor highlighted.
Among the volunteers, Yasmin Carvalho, a law student, expressed her satisfaction in participating for the first time in a donation campaign. "It was my first donation, and I found it a very good experience. I had never been interested before, but I liked it so much that I want to donate again. I think other colleges should also do the same because it is an action that saves lives and does good for us too," the student shared.
