Project 'Street in Art' brings another group of visitors to Theatro da Paz
The initiative, supported by various state agencies, encourages access for homeless people to cultural spaces

Another visit from the "Street in Art" Project, with a group of homeless individuals assisted by Casa Rua, took place last Monday (20). They had the opportunity to participate in a guided tour of Theatro da Paz, one of the most beautiful performance venues in Brazil, accompanied by mediators who shared the history and curiosities of the space.
The producer of Theatro da Paz, Nilo Nunez, emphasized the joy of participating in the "Street in Art" Project, which encourages access for homeless people to cultural spaces. “Through the project, we conduct guided tours here at Theatro and provide access to musical education through our Symphony Orchestra, which performs to promote this moment of welcome, listening, and appreciation. The ‘Street in Art’ seeks to reconnect these individuals with the cultural universe of Pará, reinforcing that art and culture belong to everyone,” explained Nilo Nunez.

The group also attended a rehearsal of the Symphony Orchestra of Theatro da Paz (OSTP) and spoke with some members. For Cleber Cajun, art educator and project coordinator, the action provides a welcome for the soul and heart. “Creating art for this population is about amplifying a voice that has been wanting to resonate for many years, which is the voice of the homeless person. Besides welcome and food, another type of nourishment is necessary, for the soul, for the heart, which can be through art. These are people with stories and curiosities, and this project comes to open and invite those in vulnerability to the stage, so they can find strength and beauty in art and, above all, show what is most beautiful in being human,” emphasized Cleber Cajun.
The initiative is from the Government of Pará, promoted by the State Department of Culture (Secult), Theatro da Paz, Public Defender's Office of Pará (DPE), Cultural Foundation of Pará (FCP), Carlos Gomes Foundation (FCG), and the State Department of Social Assistance, Labor, Employment and Income (Seaster), and aims to democratize access to culture for homeless individuals through mediated visits to cultural facilities in the State.
