More than 600 micro-entrepreneurs are reclassified in the Simples Nacional in Pará
The measure targets those companies that exceeded the maximum allowed revenue by more than 20%. Optants remain in the Simples Nacional

The Special Coordination of Micro and Small Enterprises, from the State Department of Finance (Sefa), carried out this month the reclassification of 661 companies from the simplified regime of Individual Microentrepreneur (MEI) to Microenterprise (ME) or Small Business (EPP), as defined by Complementary Law No. 123, of 12/14/2006, in its art. 3.
"The reclassification notifications were sent to those companies that exceeded the maximum allowed revenue by more than 20%, which is R$ 81,000.00 per year," clarified the coordinator of Micro and Small Enterprises of Sefa, Márcio Carvalho. The reclassification reached businesses from 12 municipalities in Pará.
"Once disqualified from MEI, the taxpayer moves to the normal Simples Nacional regime, that is, continues as Simples Nacional, but ceases to be MEI," he explains. According to revenue inspector João Luiz Soares, monitoring annual revenue allows for evaluating business growth, and thus, the enterprise rises to a new level, whose revenue limit is R$ 3,600,000 at the state level and R$ 4,800,000 at the federal level, also adding the possibility of hiring more employees, since MEI allows hiring only one person.
The main criteria for measuring the revenue of micro and small enterprises are the purchases made for commercialization, and the movements of the Payment Information Declaration (DIMP), that is, cards, pix, etc.
"We crossed the information of entrepreneurs with the invoices of purchases and information received from payments via credit and debit cards, pix, and others, and found these inconsistencies," explained the state revenue inspector.
Those notified can contest the decision of the tax authorities. Just formalize the defense, through protocol, with the justifications, at the taxpayer's jurisdiction unit, within 30 days from the date of reading the notification sent by the Electronic Tax Domicile of the Simples Nacional – DTE-SN.
MEI - The MEI is a simplified business model that encourages the formalization of self-employed workers. They can issue invoices, open a business account, and have access to loans with better conditions.
