Polyclinic Carajás strengthens health network with endoscopy exams
Free service expands access to early diagnosis and reinforces the commitment of the Government of Pará to the care and quality of life of the population
Stomach pain, constant heartburn, that burning sensation that worries. Symptoms that many people know well, but now find answers in the endoscopy exam offered for free at the Polyclinic Carajás Miguel Chamon, in Marabá.
The procedure helps to detect diseases such as gastritis, reflux, ulcers, esophagitis, among others, ensuring quick diagnosis and effective treatment for patients.
This was the experience of Isaac Silva, 50 years old, a resident of São Domingos do Araguaia, in the Carajás region. He was referred for the procedure after experiencing stomach pain. “I was worried, but I was received with so much attention that my fear passed. The team explained each step of the exam and everything happened quickly and safely,” said the patient.
The same feeling of care and trust was experienced by Elisandra Mendes, 48 years old, also from São Domingos. “It was a calm experience, from the reception to the exam, I felt that everyone was there to truly take care of me. I left feeling more confident and with the certainty that taking care of my health is an act of love for myself,” she said emotionally.
Since its inauguration in April of this year, the Polyclinic inaugurated by Governor Helder Barbalho has already performed more than 500 endoscopy exams, benefiting residents of several municipalities in the Carajás region. The service ensures quick diagnosis and continuous monitoring, reinforcing the commitment to prevention and care.
According to Joabe Lopes, executive director of the unit, the exam is an essential ally of health. “Many digestive problems start silently. Endoscopy detects these changes early, preventing more serious complications. Our commitment is to provide this care with safety, technology, and warmth,” he emphasized.
Procedure - At the unit, managed by the Institute of Social and Environmental Health of the Amazon (ISSAA), in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), Dr. Ariana Santos, a specialist in digestive endoscopy, explains that the exam is simple, quick, and essential for the accurate diagnosis of diseases of the digestive system.
“The patient receives a mild sedative and the procedure lasts, on average, five to ten minutes. Through a microcamera, we can visualize the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum, identifying inflammations, ulcers, and other changes that would not be noticed in common exams,” details the specialist.
She emphasizes that the exam is completely safe and performed with modern equipment and a trained team to provide comfort and tranquility. “Our goal is to ensure a humanized service, where the patient feels welcomed and confident throughout the process,” highlighted Ariana.
The offer of the endoscopy exam at Polyclinic Carajás reaffirms the commitment of the Government of Pará to access quality health care. With technology, qualified professionals, and humanized care, the unit continues to expand early diagnosis and strengthen the health care network in the southeastern region of the state.
State regulation for services - Services at the Polyclinic are regulated by the State Regulation Center, under the responsibility of the State Department of Public Health (Sespa). To access the services, citizens must seek a Basic Health Unit in their municipality.
After evaluation, the health professional will provide the necessary referral. Then, the patient must present the referral document and their personal data to the Municipal Health Department, which will register and schedule in the State Regulation System.
