Music therapy assists in the treatment of patients at the Public Regional Hospital of Marajó
The initiative offers a complementary therapeutic approach, using music to promote well-being, quality of life, and humanization in patient care.

The Public Regional Hospital of Marajó (HRPM), in Breves, started a music therapy project for patients this Thursday (9), with the first session conducted by saxophonist Rafael Oliveira, in partnership with hospital volunteers. The initiative offers a complementary therapeutic approach, using music to promote well-being, quality of life, and humanization in patient care.
“Music therapy is a technique that uses music to promote health and well-being. At HRPM, music therapy will be an additional option for patients seeking a holistic and integrative approach to complement medical treatment,” explained the physician and technical director of the unit, Marcello Ferreira.

User Davi Nascimento Machado, 27, hospitalized at HRPM for a surgical procedure after fracturing his arm, praised the assistance provided at the Regional Hospital of Marajó and highlighted the importance of the music therapy moment during hospitalization. “Thank God, all the professionals have taken very good care of me here. The moment we experienced with music was very good,” said the resident of Portel, on the island of Marajó.

The Public Regional Hospital of Marajó is a unit of the public health network of the government of Pará, managed by the National Institute of Social and Human Development (INDSH), in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa).
The unit provides medium and high complexity assistance to approximately 340,000 inhabitants of the municipalities linked to the 8th Regional Health Center (CRS) – Breves, Anajás, Bagre, Curralinho, Gurupá, Melgaço, and Portel.
