The main highlight of the feature film exhibition is the work of British filmmaker Adrian Cowell (1934-2011), who dedicated 50 years of his career to the audiovisual documentation of the Brazilian Amazon. Among his works, the documentary series “The Decade of Destruction,” produced over ten years (1980–1990), will be screened, addressing the advance of deforestation and social and environmental conflicts in the region.
Adrian Cowell recorded, among other emblematic situations, accelerated burning and deforestation, impacts of large infrastructure projects, contact with isolated indigenous peoples, land violence in the Amazon, and the resistance of local populations in the face of devastation, including the struggle of rubber tapper Chico Mendes for forest preservation and the creation of the first extractive reserves.

Indigenous audiovisual - Complementing this purpose, the exhibition will also showcase recent productions by indigenous filmmakers and audiovisual collectives, offering new perspectives on the Amazon. In addition to the screenings, the program includes debates with filmmakers, indigenous leaders, environmentalists, and researchers, promoting dialogue and critical reflection.
The exhibition is an initiative of the Casa de Oswaldo Cruz/Fiocruz, sponsored by Fiotec (Foundation for the Development of Scientific and Technological Health), and curated by Makunaima Audiovisual Production and the Museu Paraense Emilio Goeldi. It has institutional support from UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) and the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change, as well as support from Estação Net de Cinema and the Government of Pará, through the Cultural Foundation of Pará (FCP).
