The Military Police of Pará, through the 35th Military Police Battalion (BPM), continued, on Thursday (2), the Zero Tolerance Operation in the river area of Santarém, in western Pará. The action aimed to reinforce visible policing at different points in the city and resulted in the seizure of 50 kilograms of a substance similar to skank.

During a joint inspection with the State Department of Finance (Sefa), the military focused on preventing intentional violent lethal crimes (CVLI), robberies, thefts, and also drug trafficking. On Thursday, while inspecting a barge with a tugboat that was traveling from Manaus to Belém, the agents found inside a cargo truck, 35 bricks of narcotics, totaling about 50 kilograms of a substance similar to skank.

No direct involvement of the vessel's owner with the seized material was found. All the illicit cargo was forwarded to the Police Station (Depol) and presented to the police authority for the necessary legal procedures.

In total, the operation mobilized 21 military police officers, with support from vehicles, a boat from the Tactical Activities Team (EAT), the Canine Unit of the 2nd BME, as well as Sefa and the Regional Intelligence Center (NRI).

The commander of CPR-I, Colonel Alexo, highlighted the importance of the action: “This seizure demonstrates the commitment and efficiency of the Military Police in curbing drug trafficking in our region. The Zero Tolerance Operation is a direct response to the demands of society, which expects firmness and responsibility from us in preserving public order. We will continue to act with rigor and dedication to protect the population of Santarém and ensure that criminals have no space to operate.”
