Pride, dedication, and happiness represent teacher Jeyze Duarte from the Murumuru State High School, in the rural area of the municipality of Monte Alegre, Integration Region of Baixo Amazonas, who is among the nine finalists of the 27th edition of the Educator Nota 10 Award, the largest and most important basic education award in Brazil. The educator works in the Modular Organization System of Education (Some) - a teaching modality offered by the State Department of Education of Pará (Seduc) to ensure access to education in remote areas with sociocultural specificities such as indigenous, quilombola, and rural communities.

The educator was one of the highlights in the Innovation and Technology category, which recognizes projects that empower the school community to develop innovative solutions that have a positive impact on their communities and the world. With the project "Athletics Circuit," which values sports as an educational tool, student protagonism, and works on skills such as leadership, communication, and teamwork, teacher Jeyze Duarte secured a spot in the final of the competition.

"The Athletics Circuit is an interclass project organized by the 3rd year of high school. They are the ones who have the protagonism of the project. We work on two contents: sports events and athletics, which is the chosen sport because one of the main objectives is also to broaden the students' vision of the variety of sports we have. I chose athletics because it is considered the base sport for all other sports. During the project, students conduct content research, organize materials; then they are divided into teams responsible for researching the modalities of athletics, and in these research projects, they start, based on their research of the modalities, to work on creating panels, posters, models, to make the presentation and pass on the knowledge they gained in these phases, and from there, they present to the 1st and 2nd year of high school, and in the end, we do the practice," explained teacher Jeyze.

According to her, student protagonism is present at all stages of the project and makes a difference. "Since we do not have official materials, students are encouraged to seek alternative materials, to make creative decisions for material assembly, and in the end, the culmination is the athletics circuit in practice, where they will guide the first and second-year students to do the tests, to practice athletics. And then there are awards, it is a celebration of project completion, and afterwards we sit down and reflect on everything that happened during the project's production. We have been doing this project for over ten years - I have been working in Some for 15. We have experience, a history of working on the circuit practices for some time. We have good results, we have students taking this youth protagonism, so talked about, that they go and become aware of the modality, pass this knowledge to other students and integrate about the practices, and we work in such a way that they take the lead in the project," concluded the educator.

The nine selected educators developed transformative and impactful projects in their communities, aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda. The winners will be announced on October 28, at a face-to-face ceremony at the Pinacoteca in São Paulo (SP).

Award - The first, second, and third place winners in each category will receive cash prizes of R$ 25,000, R$ 20,000, and R$ 15,000, respectively. The winners will also be awarded full scholarships for postgraduate studies and access to PROFS, an online platform for continuing education for educators, developed by SOMOS Educação. Additionally, the three projects nominated for 1st place in each thematic axis will compete for the Educator of the Year award. The grand winner will receive a donation to the school where the project was carried out in the amount of R$ 25,000 (which may or may not be allocated in products and/or services).
