Regional Hospital of Baixo Amazonas promotes educational actions in 'Yellow September'
Dynamics, lectures, and other activities are held during the month dedicated to valuing life, with patients, companions, and professionals from the unit
Professionals from the Center for Renal Replacement Therapy (CTRS), from the Regional Hospital of Baixo Amazonas Dr. Waldemar Penna (HRBA), in Santarém, western Pará, finished this Friday (19) the creation of the "Tree of Life," which will remain in the corridor leading to the sector throughout the month of September.

The tree is the result of dynamics carried out with chronic renal patients who undergo hemodialysis at the unit, as well as with health professionals. The sessions are held in four shifts, six days a week. "This tree contains phrases that users and collaborators wrote, emphasizing the reasons why it is worth being alive, because life has meaning and importance. Our goal with the 'Yellow September' action within the CTRS is to support patients, assist in the treatment adherence process, and raise awareness about the importance of life," explained psychologist Ádria Santos.
One of the participants was Maria Cilene de Souza Rodrigues, 58, who has been undergoing hemodialysis at HRBA for seven years. "I wrote that living is very good; I love living. I am here in this fight to live. I love my family, I love myself, and there are many people I love, like the people who take care of me. I love living and I love the people around me," she declared.

Campaign - As a reference in medium and high complexity for a population of 1.4 million residents in 29 municipalities, HRBA has already conducted, from January to August of this year, 25,161 sessions of psychological care for hospitalized patients and during outpatient care. This month, the unit promotes several educational actions related to the Yellow September campaign, focused on mental health, valuing life, and suicide prevention.
Psychology professionals guided unit collaborators in an activity in the hospital hall, which included dynamics, giveaways, and a mural with motivational messages.
In the Oncology Sector, a lecture on the topic was also held, addressing the quality of life, fears, and emotions of patients undergoing treatment. The activity took place in the Chemotherapy Outpatient Clinic. In addition to "Yellow September," the Green September campaign was also addressed, which works on awareness and prevention of bowel cancer or colorectal cancer.

Outpatient Clinic - The first educational action of the campaign took place at the beginning of the month, in the Outpatient Clinic. The coordinator of the Psychosocial Sector, Rose Mara Jardim, addressed suicide prevention with patients and companions waiting for medical consultations. "Today, we need to share knowledge so that people can identify in themselves or in friends and family that something is not going well. And from that, help that person seek help. To save lives, we have to work on prevention. And here in the Outpatient Clinic, we can talk to patients not only from Santarém but also from other nearby municipalities. And they will take this knowledge with them," she stated.

Valderina Moreira de Oliveira, 51, accompanied her father, Raimundo Nunes, to a consultation with the cardiologist. She attentively listened to the entire lecture and emphasized the importance of discussing this topic. "I found it very important, and I was very happy. I have faced such problems in my family, and I know that when a person is in this stage, they cannot react. They need help. It was wonderful. Everyone deserves congratulations for giving us this opportunity to learn more about the subject," said the user.
"It is part of our commitment to health to provide information to our patients, companions, and collaborators. And also to have this concern for their well-being, for mental health. The campaign is an important moment for us to discuss this delicate topic, identify risk situations, and offer help. We will carry out these actions throughout the month to work on this subject and bring this knowledge to those who need it," informed the general director of HRBA, Matheus Coutinho.
