Signs that alert to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) will be the theme of the extension course at the Center for Biological and Health Sciences (CCBS) of the State University of Pará (Uepa) this Friday (12), from 2 PM to 5 PM, at Travessa Perebebuí, No. 2623, in the Marco neighborhood, in Belém.

The initiative is from the Research, Extension, and Graduate Studies Center of the Occupational Therapy course (Nupeto). Throughout the year, the Center has scheduled several extension courses with themes open to the public, and by offering these extension activities, it aims to reach the community in general. The intention is to share topics of relevance for public knowledge.

This month's activity has the theme "Warning Signs for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)", with facilitator and Uepa staff member Renilce Machado dos Santos Araújo. She explains that ASD is a condition that affects neurodevelopment characterized by deficits in communication and social interaction, among other symptoms.

Warning signs in neurodevelopment can be perceived from the early years of life. The extension course will provide a certificate and will be held in the auditorium of the Unit of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy (Ueafto), at the Center for Biological and Health Sciences (CCBS/Campus II), in the Marco neighborhood, in Belém.
