'Harlem Globetrotters' perform at Mangueirinho, with support from the Government of Pará
With nearly a century of history, the team has performed in over 120 countries and has become an icon of global pop culture, immortalized even in cartoons and in the memories of generations.

The Guilherme Paraense Arena, Mangueirinho, will host another major international event. For the first time in the North of the country, the legendary Harlem Globetrotters, considered the most famous basketball team in the world, will perform in Belém do Pará on September 27.
The show is part of a schedule with 19 confirmed performances in various Brazilian cities between September and October 2025. Founded in 1926, the team combines acrobatics, humor, and audience interaction in a show that delights generations.
According to the State Secretary of Sports and Leisure, Cássio Andrade, the presence of the event reinforces Pará's prominence in the national and international sports calendar.
“Hosting the Harlem Globetrotters at Mangueirinho is proof that Pará has firmly entered the route of major sports and cultural events. It is a source of pride for our state to host a show that has already enchanted millions of people around the world, showing that we have the structure and audience to receive attractions of this magnitude,” highlighted the secretary.

The event is organized by Wow Entertainment, responsible for bringing the global phenomenon back to the country after the team's last visit to Brazil in 2017. At that time, thousands of fans filled gyms in several capitals. Now, with a new, even more interactive show, the Globetrotters promise to repeat the success, bringing together families and basketball enthusiasts in a spectacle that goes far beyond the sport.
With nearly a century of history, the team has performed in over 120 countries and has become an icon of global pop culture, immortalized even in cartoons and in the memories of generations.
The tour also celebrates Children's Day and National Basketball Day, both celebrated on October 12, reinforcing the playful and inclusive nature of the show.

About the Harlem Globetrotters
Founded in 1926 by Abe Saperstein, the Harlem Globetrotters were born with the mission of giving visibility to black players who were excluded from official basketball leagues in the United States. Although it originated in Chicago, the name “Harlem” was chosen to represent the pride and culture of black people at the time.
Before becoming a phenomenon in sports entertainment, the team was highly competitive — in 1940, they won the World Pro Tournament. Worldwide fame came with a unique blend of skill, humor, and performances set to the iconic tune “Sweet Georgia Brown.”
In 1958, the team featured Wilt Chamberlain, who at the time was still unable to play in the NBA. A year later, the Globetrotters made history during a tour in Moscow, being cheered by then Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev.
The success transcended the courts. In 1979, the team became a cartoon character created by Hanna-Barbera studios, aired on televisions around the world. In the animation, the Globetrotters faced villains in games filled with superpowers and good humor.
Throughout its history, the Harlem Globetrotters broke racial and gender barriers. In 1980, Lynette Woodard became the first woman to join the team. Between 1962 and 1971, the team maintained an impressive unbeaten streak of nearly 2,500 games, accumulating over 8,800 victories during that period.
More than just entertainment, the Globetrotters left a transformative legacy: they helped shape modern basketball and paved the way for diversity and inclusion in sports.
