Reference in several specialties for users from northeastern Pará, the Hospital Regional Público dos Caetés (HRPC) held a lecture on Friday (5) in the area of examination services focusing on raising awareness about the risks of self-medication and the importance of the safe use of medications.

The health education action was conducted by the Pharmacy coordinator, Josielma Roxo, in partnership with the unit's team of pharmacists, who highlighted practical self-care guidelines essential for the safety and well-being of users. The professional emphasized the relevance of the topic by reinforcing the need for safe practices in the use of medications.

“The importance of addressing self-care in medication administration is to raise awareness among patients, families, and professionals about safe and responsible practices in the use of therapies. Correct administration is essential for the effectiveness of treatment and prevention of adverse events,” she noted.

“Self-care encourages the patient to follow schedules and doses, recognize adverse reactions, properly store medications, and communicate doubts or symptoms to the health team, ensuring greater safety and adherence to treatment,” she added.

Approval - Among those present, user Carla Mendes Ferreira, 32, a resident of Capanema, emphasized that the guidelines were enlightening and will contribute to changes in daily habits.

“I found the lecture very enlightening because many times we end up taking medication on our own, without knowing the risks. The information I received today will help me be more careful and also guide my family on the correct way to use medications,” she stated.

Service: The Complexo Hospitalar dos Caetés (CHC), formed by the Regional Hospital, the Polyclinic, and the Nucleus for Autism Spectrum Disorder Care (Natea), is part of the health network of the government of Pará, under the administration of the Instituto Nacional de Desenvolvimento Social e Humano (INDSH), in partnership with the Secretaria de Estado de Saúde Pública (Sespa).

The unit serves users 100% through the Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS), on Barão de Capanema Avenue, in the Centro neighborhood, in the municipal seat of Capanema. More information can be obtained by phone: (91) 3122-7391.
