Pará leads formal job creation in the North with over 30,000 positions filled in the first half of 2025
Pará ranks 9th in the national employability ranking, ahead of states like Minas Gerais, Santa Catarina, Federal District (DF), Rio Grande do Sul, and Espírito Santo.
Pará has once again shown a positive balance in formal job creation in July, according to data released this Thursday (28) by the Inter-Union Department of Statistics and Socioeconomic Studies (Dieese), along with the State Secretariat for Social Assistance, Labor, Employment, and Income (Seaster). The analyses also show that there were more admissions than dismissals in the first half of 2025. Pará occupies the 9th position in the national ranking for formal employability, remaining 1st in the North Region.
With the positive result recorded in July, in the first seven months of this year, the comparison between admissions and dismissals indicated growth in formal employment throughout the state, with a total of 305,703 admissions and 275,193 dismissals, resulting in a positive balance of 30,510 formally filled job positions.
In the national employability ranking, Pará is ahead of, for example, Minas Gerais, Santa Catarina, Federal District, Rio Grande do Sul, and Espírito Santo.
In the official data for July, referring to the General Register of Employed and Unemployed (Caged) from the Ministry of Labor, there were 45,346 admissions and 40,464 dismissals, generating a positive balance of 4,882 job positions.
Also in July, the major economic sectors in Pará showed growth in formal jobs, with a highlight for the Services sector, which added 2,781 job positions, followed by the Construction sector, with a positive balance of 1,072 job positions, as well as the Industry sector, with a positive balance of 774 job positions, and the Commerce sector, with 672 positions.
In the North Region, in July, there were 112,163 admissions and 104,035 dismissals, generating a positive balance of 8,128 job positions. Pará alone accounts for more than half of the total balance in the region regarding formal employability.
Sectors that hired the most - According to analyses from Dieese and Seaster, also in the period from January to July this year, most major economic sectors in Pará showed growth in formal job creation. The highlights were the Services sector, which achieved a positive balance of 15,390 job positions; Commerce, with a positive balance of 6,524 positions; Industry, with a positive balance of 5,503 positions; and Construction, with a positive balance of 5,081 job positions.
The current state administration continuously works to encourage economic opportunities throughout Pará, through mechanisms that enable job and income generation, as well as professional qualification, including courses, lectures, workshops, job fairs, and others.
“The Government of Pará, through Seaster, continues to strengthen its commitment to executing strategies that allow more people to enter the job market. An example is the execution of the 'Job Fair', which is part of this plan, as a priority, as well as qualification courses, because these initiatives stimulate job and income generation in the state, in addition to the professional growth of all,” highlighted the head of Seaster, Inocencio Gasparim.
Employment - The Government of Pará, through Seaster, holds the "Job Fair" in various municipalities. The last one took place in Belém on August 22, where more than 600 people were served with various services, including job interviews and referrals to companies with available positions.
The next Fair will take place in the municipality of Santarém, in western Pará, on September 3 (Wednesday), aimed at the LGBTQIA+ audience, and on September 4 for the general public. All information will be disclosed on Seaster's official channels.
