The writer Luiz Peixoto Ramos, creator of the iconic character "Jabutigão", and the singer Nazaré Pereira, internationally recognized for her career, will be the honorees of the next Pan-Amazonian Book Fair and Multivoices. The announcement was made on the night of this Friday (22), on the last day of the 28th edition, held at the Hangar Convention Center of the Amazon in Belém.

The honorees represent different expressions of Pará's culture. Luiz Peixoto is the creator of "Jabutigão", a giant tortoise that has become one of the most beloved attractions of the Fair over the years, being present in 27 editions. Nazaré Pereira has over five decades of a career marked by the appreciation of popular culture and artistic recognition both inside and outside Brazil.

"The choice of Luiz Peixoto and Nazaré Pereira reaffirms the commitment of the Government of Pará to recognize names that mark our culture with their trajectories, valuing literature, but also orality. Peixoto, with Jabutigão, has marked generations of children within the Fair itself, and Nazaré has taken Amazonian music to the world, becoming an ambassador of our identity. Celebrating these names is celebrating the strength of Pará's cultural production and our multivoices," highlighted the State Secretary of Culture, Ursula Vidal.

"When the secretary [Ursula] called me, I was thrilled because this tribute is not a vanity, but the recognition of many years of work. I have already released 20 books, 12 CDs, and Jabutigão was born here, at the Fair. The first time, I brought the costume, created the dance, the music, and since then, the character has enchanted children and brought the audience closer to reading. I am really very happy with this tribute," declared Luiz Peixoto.

Nazaré Pereira, who is currently in France, also received the news with emotion. "My heart is full of love, friendship, and affection for this tribute," said Nazaré, before humming her song Terra Morena: "I tied the forest to the hem of my skirt, swayed the ruffles from Oiapoque to Chuí." Her repertoire includes influences from popular culture, regional rhythms, and original compositions, making her a reference in the dissemination of Amazonian art and northern cultural identity.

350 thousand attended the Fair over seven days

Considered the largest literary event in the Northern Region, the 28th Pan-Amazonian Book Fair and Multivoices received around 350,000 visitors and sold 500,000 books over the seven days of programming at the Hangar. The event also generated R$ 12 million in business and book sales, in addition to R$ 200,000 at the Creative Fair and over R$ 150,000 in the Artist Alley.

There were 189 book stands, in addition to nine food stands. The event brought together 400 publishers, either directly or through representation, with the participation of 120 companies — including 32 publishers, 40 bookstores, and 48 distributors, of which 70 are from Pará. About 90,000 titles were available, totaling 200 tons of books, in addition to generating 2,000 direct and indirect jobs.

The programming of the Multivoices Arena, which this year operated in Hall B of the Hangar, included 16 discussion rounds, 8 chats, and 7 shows, in 56 hours of programming with over 70 guests. The Author's Point featured the participation of more than 100 writers, while the Creative Fair brought together 36 entrepreneurs and the Artist Alley showcased 18 illustrators and designers.
