With the resources, the school unit made the spaces safer and more suitable for the daily lives of students and teachers

Quality education starts within the school, and it was with this focus that the Government of Pará, through the State Department of Education (Seduc), created the Program Money in the Paraense School (Prodep), which gives autonomy for each school to decide how to invest public resources according to its needs. A clear example of this impact is at the State School Francisco Paulo Mendes, in Ananindeua, which, with the resources, underwent significant improvements in its structure, making the spaces safer and more suitable for the daily lives of students and teachers, all done with planning and the direct involvement of the school community.

A concrete example of this transformation can be seen in the significant improvements made to its infrastructure, directly reflecting on the well-being of students, teachers, and other education professionals. Among the actions taken, highlights include roof maintenance, essential for ensuring safety and comfort; revitalization of the paint, which provides a more welcoming and stimulating environment; and the acquisition of security cameras, which contribute to the protection of the entire school community.

“The structural improvements made with Prodep resources have significantly raised the students' self-esteem, reflecting in greater attendance and engagement. The autonomy in managing the resources allowed the school to define real priorities and execute actions more quickly, without solely depending on higher instances. This made responses to students' needs much faster and more effective. So, the improvements brought things that our school really needed,” says Glaucenir Freitas, the principal.

All these improvements were the result of a planned effort, with the direct participation of school management, teachers, parents, and students, demonstrating that when the school has autonomy and support, the results appear concretely. In the year the program was created, in 2023, the unit received a total investment of R$ 165,705.88. By 2025, the amount received was R$ 198,529.50.

“The improvements are visible: the classrooms are air-conditioned, the school has been completely painted, and now it has security cameras, which provide a safer environment. Additionally, there is school lunch every day. I have studied here since the 6th grade and have been able to closely follow all the phases of the school's evolution,” says Kayo da Silva, a 3rd-year high school student.

The same opinion is shared by Vitória Silva, also a 3rd-year high school student. “The school was all tagged, dark, and without adequate conditions for our learning. With the resources received, the unit has improved a lot. Now it is clean and well-lit,” says the student.

Prodep - The Program Money in the Paraense School is an initiative of the Government of Pará, through Seduc, which enhances and grants autonomy for the development of actions in schools. With the program, school management, in active partnership with the School Council, gains greater autonomy and protagonism to manage resources in executing priority demands and daily activities, allowing for a significant reinforcement in the teaching-learning process.

Since 2023, the Government of Pará has been transforming the reality of public schools through Prodep. More than R$ 140 million have already been transferred to units throughout the State, improving the learning environment and valuing the participation of all in building quality public education. With the new transfer, the State reaches the mark of R$ 190 million.
