The investment made by the State Government totals over R$ 11 million in training

The Military Police of Pará (PMPA) is currently training two important initial classes aimed at reinforcing the corporation's workforce and its role in public security in the coming years. There are 1,105 students being prepared through the Officer Training Course (CFO) and the Soldier Training Course (CFP), both scheduled for the 2025/2026 biennium.

The courses began on June 2, 2025. The CFO, with 104 enrolled students, will continue until November 2026, while the CFP, which has 1,001 students, will run until March of the same year. After the “firearms and police shooting” discipline, students from both the CFO and CFP will be able to start supervised internships. Thus, all 1,105 students will be ready, under supervision, to act during major events such as Círio, football matches, Enem, and others. The investment made by the State Government totals over R$ 11 million in training. The CFO received R$ 2,784,721.49, while the CFP had an investment of R$ 8,931,184.20.

The commander-in-chief, Colonel Dilson Júnior, emphasized the importance of investment in public security: “The investment made by the Government of the State of Pará, exceeding 11 million reais, is a fundamental milestone for strengthening our public security. With this funding, we will be able to train over a thousand new police officers, both officers and soldiers, who will be ready to reinforce the actions of the Military Police throughout the State. This new troop, trained with excellence, will be essential to ensure the safety of the population. The presence of these qualified military personnel shows that the State is committed to valuing our corporation and ensuring the safety of all Pará residents.”

Qualified training adapted to the Amazonian reality

The training of new military personnel follows a rigorous pedagogical plan approved by the Command of the Corporation. The pedagogical project of the Officer Training Course, for example, has a workload of 2,840 class hours, at a lato sensu postgraduate level, focusing on areas such as law, leadership, citizenship, human rights, and defense of the Democratic State of Law.

The curriculum covers various topics such as crisis management, criminology, community policing, firearms and shooting, military criminal and procedural law, personal defense, as well as specific operational practices for the Amazonian reality, such as operations in jungle areas, among others. Classes are held at the Military Police Academy “Coronel Fontoura,” in Marituba, in the Metropolitan Region of Belém.

On the other hand, the Soldier Training Course has a workload of 1,640 class hours and adopts a hybrid teaching model. The technical training covers legal and operational concepts such as patrolling techniques, pre-hospital care, crime scene preservation, personal defense, and differentiated use of force. The teaching centers are distributed among Belém, Mosqueiro, Castanhal, Santa Izabel, and Barcarena.

Rafaela Martins is a soldier student of the CFP and enthusiastically shared her journey in studies and her achievement of becoming a military police officer: “I started preparing for the exam in 2023. It was a period of much effort, dedication, and sacrifices, but always with a clear goal of joining the PM. The training course is essential as it prepares the future police officer. It provides the necessary legal, tactical, and ethical foundation to act with responsibility for security and respect for society. Without this preparation, it would be impossible to perform the training effectively and within the law.”

Letícia Alves Dutra, an officer student, had already been part of the institution since 2022. Her interest in the Military Police arose while she was studying Law. Her journey in the world of competitive exams began in 2020, a period when she balanced her studies with work and caring for her child.

“Even facing a triple workload, I managed to be approved in the CFP exam in 2022. But focusing on the Officer Training Course (CFO), a unique opportunity to exercise leadership and achieve financial and personal advancement, I decided to take the next exam in December 2023, and I was approved among the top 10 candidates. The preparation period was intense, requiring significant sacrifices to achieve the dream of preparing for a career that I admire so much.”

Letícia also emphasizes that without the training course, it would not be possible to perform the police function legally, safely, and efficiently. “It is the starting point that transforms an ordinary citizen into a state agent, with the duty and power to protect society, using force only when necessary and always with responsibility.”

Commitment of public security to society

The pedagogical project aims not only at technical training but also at the development of ethical, social, and cognitive competencies. The goal is to train professionals committed to the institutional values of the Military Police, prepared to act in increasingly complex urban and environmental contexts.

In addition to filling operational gaps in the corporation, the training also values the police career and stimulates scientific production in the area of public security. At the end of the courses, the new soldiers and officers will be qualified to act with professionalism, social responsibility, respect for human rights, and the population.

The head of the General Department of Education and Culture (Dgec), Colonel Ubirajara Magela, highlighted the role of the course in training and improving the troop: “A quality training course is what transforms vocation into competence. It is here that the future police officer learns, in a technical, ethical, and practical way, to responsibly exercise the function of protecting and serving. The work we do goes beyond instruction: it is the construction of professionals prepared to deal with the challenges of the Amazonian reality, respecting human rights and acting with intelligence, balance, and firmness. The preparatory course is the solid foundation that supports an entire career dedicated to public security and the defense of Pará society.”
