The expansion of the electricity network in rural communities is part of the planning of the Government of Pará to promote economic development in all regions. This Friday (15), through the State Secretariat for Economic Development, Mining and Energy (Sedeme), the authorization for the construction of 35 kilometers of three-phase electricity network in the Vale do Piriá, along the Sérgio Fernandes Road, in the municipality of Paragominas, southeastern Pará, was signed.

The signing event, held at the Lions Club, was attended by Governor Helder Barbalho; Vice Governor Hana Ghassan; the head of Sedeme, Paulo Bengtson; Mayor Sydney Rosa, and other authorities.

With an investment of R$ 6,486,737.54, the project is part of the Socioeconomic Inclusion Program (PIS), coordinated by Sedeme, and provides for the installation of four three-phase transformers of 75 KVA each. The initiative aims to meet the growing energy demand in the region, providing adequate infrastructure to strengthen productive activities in rural communities and local enterprises.

Governor Helder Barbalho emphasized the potential of rural production in Paragominas. “Together with Hana, parliamentarians, partners, and mayors from the region, we are here to honor our Agropec, the fair that proudly celebrates the strength of rural production in Paragominas, which stands out as a true granary of agribusiness in Pará. It is from here that we show the country the excellence of our livestock and agriculture, revealing our state's vocation to produce high-quality food and enter a new stage of development,” emphasized the governor.

The head of the Executive also highlighted that “today, in addition to cultivating and exporting food, we are investing in verticalization and industrialization of production, adding value and fostering job and income generation. This progress reinforces our commitment to the countryside, transforming production into prosperity for all.”

Vice Governor Hana Ghassan recognized the determination of the residents of the region to build their families, realize dreams, and show love for Pará. “Those who live here love this state and wish for it to reach the top of production, development, and social equality. Our government works with fiscal balance and future planning. We are celebrating an agreement with the City Hall of Paragominas not only to build bridges but also thinking about paving the highway, essential infrastructure to generate jobs, income, and promote sustainable development,” she reiterated.

Hana Ghassan also reaffirmed the commitment to economic development and improving the quality of life of the population. “You can count on us, with the Legislative Assembly, with the chambers, and with the private sector. Together, we will build a stronger Pará for everyone,” said the vice governor.

Social inclusion - Secretary Paulo Bengtson emphasized that, through the Socioeconomic Inclusion Program, the state government has been expanding access to electricity in rural communities, reinforcing the state's commitment to promoting development and quality of life in its 144 municipalities. The installation of networks, especially three-phase ones, boosts social inclusion and strengthens the local economy, always with an emphasis on sustainability, said the head of Sedeme.

According to Paulo Bengtson, the PIS allows these localities to be integrated into other public policies, accelerating their socioeconomic development. The initiative also promotes the expansion of rural electrification, encourages the use of renewable sources, and is aligned with the Government of Pará's carbon emission reduction agenda.

The Socioeconomic Inclusion Program aims to promote access to electricity in areas of social interest that still lack the service or need expansion. The actions are executed by Equatorial Energia, based on a Commitment Term signed with the state government, which establishes an investment of 1.5% of the concessionaire's net operating revenue.

The company will carry out the services in accordance with current legal and environmental standards, ensuring the continuity of investments aimed at the implementation and expansion of the electrical system.

The Socioeconomic Inclusion Program has already benefited more than 6,000 families, between 2019 and 2024, with the completion of 146 works in more than 40 municipalities in Pará. With an investment of over R$ 140 million, the Program has enabled the implementation of 1,167.71 kilometers of new electricity distribution networks, already delivered to the population. Another 305.18 kilometers are in the execution phase.
